DraftKings MLB: Thursday Picks

DraftKings MLB: Thursday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Matt Harvey, NYM at ATL ($8,100): With a 1-2 record and 4.86 ERA against Atlanta this season, hope Harvey's ownership is low enough that you're able to take advantage of the price and what should be a favorable matchup. The Braves own a basement-dwelling .286 wOBA and 77 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers this season, and Harvey has shown better of late with a 2.08 ERA and 22 strikeouts through 26 innings over his past four outings.

Tim Lincecum, LAA vs. OAK ($7,100): While well within flier territory, there are limited options, and chasing Lincecum's low salary and plus-matchup eases lineup construction. Oakland ranks fourth-worst in wOBA (.291) and fifth-worst in wRC+ (83) against right-handed hurlers this season.

CATCHER

Travis d'Arnaud, NYM at ATL ($3,000): It's been a disastrous season, but d'Arnaud kicked the rust after a lengthy stint on the disabled list Tuesday and rested Wednesday. The wind is projected to be blowing out at Turner Field, and d'Arnaud is cheap and should hit in the heart of the lineup.

FIRST BASE

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI at COL ($5,500): While perhaps the chalkiest hitter on the board, Goldschmidt could be tough to fade Thursday. His numbers don't jump off the page at Coors Field (.295/.394/.500 slash line through 175 plate appearances), but he has a .430 wOBA and 169 wRC+ in June and has piled on the counting stats over his past 25 games with 17 runs, eight doubles, six home runs, 19 RBI and four stolen bases with a 1.119 OPS.

SECOND BASE

Ben Zobrist, CHC at MIA ($4,700): Dating back to the beginning of 2014, Zobrist has a .386 wOBA and 150 wRC+ against southpaws and currently sits with a .413 on-base percentage for the season. Meanwhile, opposing hurler Wei-Yin Chen has allowed .352 wOBA to opposing right-handed bats this season.

THIRD BASE

Kris Bryant, CHC vs. MIA ($4,800): Since entering the league, Bryant has the 11th-best hard-hit percentage against left-handed hitters (40.2 percent) with a .363 wOBA and 130 wRC+. He's gone nine games without a multi-hit showing, so his stock could be underappreciated. As noted, though, Wei-Yin Chen checks out as a favorable matchup for a slump-busting showing.

SHORTSTOP

Adeiny Hechavarria, MIA vs. CHC ($2,900): The slick fielding shortstop has proven to be a viable daily option against left-handed arms with a. 291/.342/.433 slash line, .337 wOBA and 112 wRC+ dating back to the beginning of last season. And, Hechavarria often climbs the lineup when facing a southpaw.

OUTFIELD

Matt Kemp, SD at CIN ($4,900): Facing a lefty in a favorable hitting environment, Kemp's .447 wOBA and 190 wRC+ against southpaws warrant attention. Those marks also rank fifth and fourth in the league among hitters with at least 70 plate appearances against lefties, respectively. John Lamb has served up a .355 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season, too.

Mike Trout, LAA vs. OAK ($4,800): Opposing-starter Kendall Graveman has allowed 2.08 HR/9 this season to right-handed batters, and Trout has a .410 wOBA and 169 wRC+ against righties since entering the league. Hopefully, Trout's rough June keeps him under owned in the great matchup.

Kole Calhoun, LAA vs. OAK ($4,000): Lefties have also had their way with Graveman, as the third-year hurler has surrendered a .368 wOBA to them. Calhoun has five bombs in June and has a .341 wOBA and 122 wRC+ against right-handed arms since 2013.
