FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Junior Guerra, MIL vs. STL ($8,400): Guerra has been solid throughout the season, but he's been particularly outstanding over his last three starts. He's scored between 51 and 57 fantasy points during that span, an output that could easily warrant a much higher price. He's also posted a 4-1 record and 2.48 ERA over his 40 home innings, while allowing only a .206 average to opposing hitters. Guerra turned in a quality start on May 30 against the Cardinals, and could be primed for an even better performance Sunday considering his recent efforts.

Catcher

Salvador Perez, KC vs. SEA ($2,800): Perez's status for Sunday's game was up in the air earlier, but he's now slotted in the very favorable two-hole as the DH. He's been wielding a hot bat, posting two games with back-to-back homers and going 5-for-10 with those round-trippers, four RBI and five runs in the first three games of the current series against the Mariners. He has three straight games with over 20 fantasy points and has a .327 wOBA against southpaws that rises to .425 when facing them at Kauffman Stadium. Mariners starter Mike Montgomery has been tough this year in limited action, but has notably surrendered nine of his 12 career homers to righty bats.

First Base

Mike Napoli, CLE vs. NYY ($3,000): Napoli has a .334 wOBA, .243 ISO and 36.7 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitchers, while Masahiro Tanaka has given up six of his nine homers on the season to right-handed hitters. Napoli should step into the batter's box with plenty of confidence against Tanaka as well, considering he's hit .625 (5-for-8) against him with three doubles, two homers, two RBI and three walks.

Second Base

Devon Travis, TOR vs. DET ($2,900): Travis steps in with a .384 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season, while Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez has given up a .428 wOBA to right-handed bats on the road along with six homers. He also yielded a .391 average to the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre over the last three seasons prior to 2016, along with a 5.79 ERA. Travis homered in Saturday's game and considering Sanchez's propensity for giving up the long ball and the hitting environment, the Blue Jays second baseman could be a good bet for another blast on Sunday.

Third Base

Martin Prado, MIA vs. CIN ($2,700): Prado's price somehow went down $300 after he scored 25 fantasy points in Saturday's victory over the Reds. He's also drawing a tantalizing matchup against southpaw Cody Reed on Sunday, who's given up a .467 wOBA and seven of his eight homers on the season to right-handed hitters. Meanwhile, Prado has a .406 wOBA and 35.3 percent hard contact rate against left-handed pitching.

Shortstop

Elvis Andrus, TEX vs. MIN ($2,700): Andrus has a long and favorable history against Twins starter Tommy Milone, who he's battered to the tune of a .370/.393/.556 line over 27 at-bats with a pair of doubles, a homer and three RBI. He hasn't been any kinder to southpaws overall this season, tallying a .407 wOBA against them. Meanwhile, Milone has surrendered a .368 wOBA to righties along with a 34.7 percent hard contact rate.

Outfield

Andrew McCutchen, PIT vs. CHC ($3,100): McCutchen can be had for a nice discount these days despite the fact that he's been picking it up at the plate as of late. The veteran slugger was 2-for-5 with his 13th homer Saturday, making it his third game with double-digit fantasy points over the last four contests. Cubs starter John Lackey is no picnic to go against, but he has surrendered nine of his 12 homers on the season to right-handed hitters along with a 39.4 percent hard contact rate to the 117 righty hitters he's faced away from Wrigley Field. McCutchen now has a .321 wOBA against right-handed pitchers and a 37.5 percent hard contact rate against them at PNC Park.

Adam Jones, BAL vs. LAA ($3,400): Angels starter Tim Lincecum has surrendered a . 539 wOBA to the 38 righty hitters he's faced this season, along with a 7.20 xFIP. Jones has a .342 wOBA against right-handed pitchers and a .366 wOBA and .248 ISO when facing them at Camden Yards. He also has 15 of his 17 homers on the season against righty arms, with eight of those coming at home.

Kevin Pillar, TOR vs. DET ($2,900): When Tigers starter Sanchez is on the hill, it's usually a good bet that a few balls will leave the yard. When he takes the mound at Rogers Centre, those odds go up. Pillar offers some cost-effective exposure to the long ball-prone right-hander and has hit that handedness well at home this season. He's tallied a .343 wOBA against right-handers at Rogers Centre, while Sanchez has surrendered a .428 wOBA to righty bats on the road along with a 30.7 percent hard contact rate.
