FanDuel MLB: Friday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Jorge De La Rosa, COL at ATL ($7,300): De La Rosa got off to a rocky start but has been very consistent over his last six starts, scoring 27, 27, 45, 30, 30 and 38 fantasy points, respectively. The key for JDLR has been cutting down on the home runs, and he's given up only four over his last 35 innings after allowing eight in his first 27.2. The matchup is almost as good as it gets, as the Braves have the second-worst wOBA (.280) and the worst ISO (.105) against left-handed pitching.

CATCHER

Stephen Vogt, OAK vs TOR ($2,900): Vogt was finally starting to heat up before the All-Star break, sporting an .890 OPS over the last month. Vogt is a notorious righty-killer and has a .332 wOBA against those pitchers, one of whom he faces tonight. Marcus Stroman has struggled the most on the road this season against left-handed hitters (.369 wOBA) putting Josh Reddick ($3,100) in play as well.

FIRST BASE

Mike Napoli, CLE at MIN ($3,300): Napoli is another player who didn't want to see the break come, as he had a 1.295 OPS over the week leading up to it. He's having a great season for the Tribe with 18 home runs (matching last season's total) and 61 RBI (better than last season's 50). Next up is a matchup against Ervin Santana, who he's gone 8-for-22 against with three home runs (1.416 OPS).

SECOND BASE

Jean Segura, ARI vs LAD ($3,200): Segura have become a fixture at the top of the Diamondbacks' potent lineup and is in the middle of a nice bounce-back season. His .799 OPS would be a career-high and, unsurprisingly, all of his offensive numbers go up when he plays at Chase Field. Now he gets to face Bud Norris in Chase Field, and while Norris has pitched better this season, much of his success can be attributed to pitching at Chavez Ravine. Norris has a 2.44 ERA and 1.16 WHIP at home while struggling on the road with a 5.23 ERA and 1.74 WHIP.

THIRD BASE

Kyle Seager, SEA vs HOU ($3,200): There are two really good left-handed options hitting at home and going with Jake Lamb ($3,500) over Seager is understandable. Considering the matchups, Seager against Doug Fister appears to be better than Lamb against Bud Norris, as Fister has given up a .374 wOBA this season to left-handed hitters, and that increases to .411 on the road. Seager is hitting right-handed pitchers this season to the tune of a .433 wOBA mark, and that rises 11 points at home.

SHORTSTOP

Trea Turner, WAS vs PIT ($2,300): Turner hit leadoff last Sunday and could find himself in that same spot against Francisco Liriano tonight. Turner would have the righty-on-lefty advantage and Liriano has struggled against right-handed hitters this season, giving up a .359 wOBA, including .396 on the road. The Nationals would be a sneaky stack given Liriano has been a pitcher to avoid in the past. However, the Nationals have the highest ISO (.219, 20 points higher than second) and the second-highest wOBA (.352) in the league against southpaws. Just double-check that Turner is in the starting lineup.

OUTFIELD

Cody Asche, PHI vs NYM ($2,800): The Phillies have finally moved both Asche and Cody Rupp up in the lineup, and the former has a respectable .846 OPS over the last month. Asche has a .350 wOBA against right-handed pitching at home and opposing starter Bartolo Colon has given up 10 of his 13 home runs to left-handed hitters. This game has a surprising nine-run over/under with a pretty even line, suggestting the Phillies should score over four runs. If that happens, Asche should have a hand in that.

Adam Duvall, CIN vs MIL ($3,000): This price is extremely low considering Duvall already has 23 home runs this year. He also has a .348 wOBA against right-handed pitching and opposing starter Matt Garza has a 5.54 ERA this season while allowing a 426 wOBA to right-handed hitters. While it is a small sample, it's worth noting that Garza struggled last season as well, finishing with a 5.63 ERA and a 1.77 WHIP.

Stephen Piscotty, STL vs MIA ($3,300): In this same game, Marcell Ozuna ($3,600) is a great play for the same reason as Piscotty: they both crush left-handed pitching. Piscotty has a .513 wOBA at home against left-handed pitching while Ozuna has a .397 wOBA on the road against lefties. Wei-Yin Chen is a good matchup for Piscotty, as Chen has a 4.83 ERA this season and has given up 17 home runs in fewer than 100 innings.
