DraftKings MLB: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Jacob deGrom, NYM at PHI ($10,600): deGrom scored 24.5 fantasy points in his start against the Phillies earlier this season, and he has impressively scored between 21.9 and 29.6 fantasy points in seven of his last eight starts. He's won his first two decisions in July, and, for what it's worth, is 10-2 with a 1.29 ERA and 134 strikeouts in 118.2 innings in day games in his career. The Phillies also continue to struggle versus righties overall, tallying a .302 wOBA and 21 percent strikeout rate against that handedness.

Adam Conley, MIA at STL ($7,700): Conley has scored between 21.4 and 28.5 fantasy points in four of his last eight starts, bringing plenty of upside to the table. He also draws a Cardinals squad that has the seventh-lowest wOBA (.309) and struck out 21.1 percent of the time against southpaws. The Marlins' left-hander is also very reasonably priced considering his ceiling.

CATCHER

Yan Gomes, CLE at MIN ($2,000): Gomes has slashed .429/.467/.929 with two homers and four RBI against Twins starter Kyle Gibson in his career, and he has also hit seven of his eight homers this year against right-handed pitching. While there's undeniably always a risk of a zero with Gomes, you're investing minimally into a player that will also likely be significantly low-owned.

FIRST BASE

Eric Hosmer, KC at DET ($2,900) Hosmer has a tough matchup against Tigers starter Michael Fulmer, but he still checks in at a price that's too low for a player of his caliber and upside. After a two-hit effort Saturday, Hosmer has now hit safely in eight of his last 11 games, and he has tallied a .361 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season, along with seven of his 13 homers.

SECOND BASE

Jason Kipnis, CLE at MIN ($5,200): Kipnis has a .370 wOBA, .238 ISO and a 38.8 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching this season, and a .455/.625/.909 line with two doubles, a solo homer and five walks over 16 career plate appearances against Twins starter Kyle Gibson. Meanwhile, Gibson has allowed a .369 wOBA and four of his six homers on the season to left-handed hitters, with three of those round-trippers coming at Target Field.

THIRD BASE

Miguel Sano, MIN vs. CLE ($4,200): Sano offers some considerable pop on the other side of the Twins-Indians matchup, and he has a .330 wOBA and 10 of his 14 homers on the season against right-handed pitching. Indians starter Josh Tomlin has struggled more with right-handed hitters this season, surrendering a .328 wOBA and 11 homers to them. Sano has also enjoyed some modest success against Tomlin, hitting a double and homer against him over nine career at-bats.

SHORTSTOP

Manny Machado, BAL at TB ($4,000): Machado is in an advantageous position against Rays starter Jake Odorizzi, who has given up a .341 wOBA and 10 of his 17 homers on the season to righty bats, and he has already generated a 9.58 ERA over 10.1 innings this month. Machado boasts a .387 wOBA, .254 ISO and 37.1 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching, and has taken Odorizzi deep twice in his career.

OUTFIELD

Mark Trumbo, BAL at TB ($5,100): Trumbo makes for a very appealing mini-stack with Machado, and he brings a highly favorable track record against Odorizzi, battering the Rays right-hander to the tune of a .556/.556/.667 line over nine career at-bats. Additionally, he has a massive .408 wOBA, .277 ISO, 24.4 percent HR/FB rate and 37.9 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching. Finally, he brings a hot bat into the game, as he's riding a 10-game hitting streak and has also hit safely in 15 of his last 16.

Adam Duvall, CIN vs. MIL ($4,700): Duvall brings a boatload of upside himself, and he has thrived against Brewers starter Zach Davies in their brief encounters, hitting a double, homer and four RBI against him. Duvall also has a .347 wOBA and .315 ISO against righty arms this season, along with a 37.2 percent hard contact rate and 27.0 percent HR/FB rate when facing them at Great American Ballpark. Davies has been much tougher on right-handed bats this season, but not nearly as much on the road, where they've tagged him for a .347 wOBA.

Marcell Ozuna, MIA at STL ($3,600): I'm not quite sure what Ozuna is doing at this price, but it's certainly a situation to capitalize on. He's managed a .356 wOBA against right-handed pitching on the road, while Cardinals starter Michael Wacha has yielded a .328 wOBA to right-handed hitters at home. Wacha has also given up a 42.9 percent hard contact rate, three homers and a .370 wOBA over just 11.2 innings (two starts), a decline that a hitter of Ozuna's caliber could potentially cash in on.
