DraftKings MLB: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Corey Kluber, CLE vs. OAK ($11,800): Kluber has eight strikeouts in each of his last three starts, scoring between 21.6 to 44.3 fantasy points in five of his last six appearances. The A's check in with the lowest wOBA in the American League against right-handed pitching (.301), while Kluber has a 1.93 ERA and allowed a .220 batting average over his last two starts.

Michael Pineda, NYY at TB ($9,900): Pineda has been fairly inconsistent this season, but he's scored 29.3 and 29.6 fantasy points in his last two games, respectively, giving up only one earned run in 13 innings over that span. The Rays strike out 24.3 percent of the time against right-handed pitchers, the highest rate in the American League, and they sport a .303 wOBA against them too.

CATCHER

Yadier Molina, STL at MIA ($3,400): Molina has slashed .357/.400/.357 over 14 career at-bats against starter Andrew Cashner, and he comes in on a 14-game hitting streak. Meanwhile, Cashner heads into his first Marlins start with a .362 wOBA allowed to right-handed bats, and Molina has a .331 wOBA on the road this season.

FIRST BASE

Albert Pujols, LAA vs. BOS ($3,500) Pujols is likely to be a very low-owned tournament play against knuckleballer Steven Wright, who's enjoyed an excellent season overall. However, the veteran slugger has tallied three hits (two doubles, one homer) and three walks over nine plate appearances against Wright, has hit 12 homers against right-handed pitching, and has a .358 wOBA at home this season. Wright has given up a 33.3 percent hard contact rate to right-handed batters, and he has largely struggled over his last five starts, surrendering 21 earned runs in 29.2 innings.

SECOND BASE

Dee Gordon, STL at MIA ($3,900): Gordon has gone 3-for-8 since returning from suspension, while also stealing his first base Saturday. While the matchup against Cardinals starter Carlos Martinez may drive some away, it's worth noting that Gordon has a .533/.533/.600 slash line over 15 at-bats against him, and that Martinez has surrendered a .320 wOBA, eight of his nine homers and a 34.3 percent hard contact rate to left-handed bats this season.

THIRD BASE

Nick Castellanos, DET vs. HOU ($3,400): Castellanos is a cost-effective way to gain some exposure to Astros lefty Dallas Keuchel, who's allowed a .336 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season, including .368 when facing them on the road. Castellanos has a .344 wOBA and .225 ISO over 89 July at-bats, and he has hit safely in seven of the last eight games.

SHORTSTOP

Elvis Andrus, TEX vs. KC ($3,400): Andrus has a .344 wOBA against right-handed pitching at home this year, including a .362 mark and 35.8 percent hard contact rate over 87 plate appearances this month. Royals starter Dillon Gee has struggled against both handedness of hitters this season, giving up a .368 wOBA and eight homers to righty bats.

OUTFIELD

Kevin Pillar, TOR vs. BAL ($2,900): Pillar is sporting a bargain price, particularly for a player who has double-digit fantasy points in two of his last four games. He also brings a strong history against Orioles starter Chris Tillman, slashing .350/.350/.850 over 20 at-bats with a double, three homers and five RBI. Pillar has a .352 wOBA against right-handed pitching at Rogers Centre this season, along with five of his seven homers on the season against them.

Jayson Werth, WAS at SF ($3,500): Werth provides solid exposure to Giants starter Matt Cain, who's given up a .350 wOBA and 5.18 xFIP to righty bats this season, with those respective figures rising to .363 and 5.47 when facing them at home. Werth has a .337 wOBA on the road, while slashing .625/.667/1.000 over eight career at-bats against Cain, including a solo homer.

Nomar Mazara, TEX vs. KC ($4,300l): Mazara provides additional exposure to Gee, whose given up a .352 wOBA, 5.32 xFIP and 31.9 percent hard contact rate to lefty bats. Mazara has posted a .346 wOBA against right-handed pitching and brings 30-fantasy point upside, as evidenced by a recent 3-for-4 outing against the Royals that included a homer and three RBI.
