Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

PITCHER

Gerrit Cole, PIT at ATL ($44): Over his past two starts, Cole has resembled the breakout star of 2015 with 13 punchouts over 15 innings and just two earned runs allowed. Add his 57.5 ground-ball percentage and there's a lot to like about the matchup against Atlanta. The Braves own a league-worst 78 wRC+ against righty arms, after all.

Adam Wainwright, STL at CIN ($38): While the veteran was hit hard last time out, he still owns a sterling 2.67 ERA over his past 10 outings with 63 strikeouts over 67 1/3 innings. Additionally, Wainwright has allowed just a single home run during that stretch. Cincinnati just lost Jay Bruce and owned a target-worthy wOBA (.303), wRC+ (84) and strikeout percentage (21.8 percent) against right-handed hurlers prior to the trade.

CATCHER

Salvador Perez, KC at TB ($8): With Matt Andriese making his first start since June 25, Perez should see also see a few at-bats against the Tampa bullpen, which owns the fifth-worst ERA (4.54) in the league. Perez has been better than serviceable against righties with a .484 slugging percentage and a .332 wOBA this season. He's a nice source of cap relief Tuesday.

FIRST BASE

Tommy Joseph, PHI vs. SF ($15): The rookie has teed off on southpaws this season with a .288 ISO, .396 wOBA and 149 wRC+ and his price should keep him scarcely owned. Plus, newly minted Giant left-hander Matt Moore has a 4.94 ERA and a .342 wOBA against pitching away from Tropicana Field so far this season.

SECOND BASE

Chase Utley, LAD at COL ($15): Playing in Coors Field and owning a respectable .330 wOBA against right-handed hurlers this season, Utley is a viable mid-priced target. He runs the risk of being a little chalky but Jon Gray has been much more hittable at home with a 4.22 ERA through eight home starts in 2016.

THIRD BASE

Yunel Escobar, LAA vs. OAK ($12): View Escobar as a high-end value Tuesday. He sports a .391 wOBA and 152 wRC+ against left-handed arms this season and sets the table for the league's highest-scoring team in July. Sean Manaea has been better of late (1.69 ERA over his past four appearances) but Escobar's price trumps any fear of the matchup.

SHORTSTOP

Xander Bogaerts, BOS at SEA ($20): Facing journeyman lefty Wade LeBlanc checks out nicely for the blossoming Bogaerts. The shortstop has owned southpaws over the past two seasons with a .395 wOBA and 147 wRC+ and he hits in the middle of an elite offensive attack.

OUTFIELD

Mike Trout, LAA vs. OAK ($25): Dating back to 2012, Trout boasts a .399 wOBA and 161 wRC+ against southpaws and he finished July with a .380 wOBA and 145 wRC+ for the month. Turn to the star with confidence against Manaea on Tuesday as the lefty has allowed a .474 slugging percentage to right-handed hitters this season.

Gregory Polanco, PIT at ATL ($14): This is a target-worthy salary at which to load Polanco into your lineups. He boasts a .375 wOBA and 139 wRC+ against right-handed arms this season and Mike Foltynewicz has served up a .396 wOBA to lefty bats in his career.

Nomar Mazara, TEX AT BAL ($10): The rookie's low price presents excellent value Tuesday and Mazara owns a .350 wOBA against right-handed hurlers this season. Dylan Bundy isn't an A+ matchup but he has surrendered a .336 wOBA to left-handed hitters on the campaign.
