DraftKings MLB: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Gerrit Cole, PIT vs. CIN ($9,200): Cole has won both of his last two starts, including a complete-game, three-hit win against Seattle on July 27, and he's allowed only three earned runs over his last 18 innings. Meanwhile, the Reds have the fourth-lowest wOBA (.305) in the National League against right-handed pitching and strikeout 21.6 percent of the time. They also struggle away from hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark as evidenced by their .293 road wOBA, while Cole has generated a solid 2.53 ERA at PNC Park this season.

Dylan Bundy, BAL at CWS ($7,800): Bundy has allowed just three earned runs over his last 17.2 innings, while the White Sox have the fourth-lowest wOBA (.305) in the American League against right-handers, as well as a 20.8 percent strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this year.

CATCHER

Jett Bandy, LAA at SEA ($2,800): Bandy has a .482 wOBA, .379 ISO and 32 percent hard contact rate against left-handed pitchers this season. He comes into Sunday on a five-game hitting streak, and two homers in his last three games. Meanwhile, Mariners starter James Paxton has given up a .326 wOBA to right-handed hitters, along with a 34.1 percent hard contact rate to them at home.

FIRST BASE

Eric Hosmer, KC vs. TOR ($3,200) Hosmer has double-digit fantasy points in four of his last nine games, a .345 wOBA against righty arms, and a .382 wOBA and 45.5 percent hard contact rate against them at home. Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman has given up a .358 wOBA and 34.4 percent hard contact rate to left-handed hitters away from Rogers Centre.

SECOND BASE

Jonathan Schoop, BAL at CWS ($3,500): Schoop has hit safely in five of the last six games and now has a .348 wOBA and .206 ISO against right-handed pitching this year. On the other side is James Shields, who has given up a .359 wOBA and 37.4 percent hard contact rate to righty bats. While the veteran pitcher has had some good games with the White Sox, he's allowed six earned runs on nine hits over five innings against the Tigers in his last start.

THIRD BASE

Kris Bryant, CHC at OAK ($4,600): A's starter Sean Manaea has given up a .350 wOBA and 12 homers to right-handed hitters this year, making Bryant a solid play for tournaments or cash games. He has a .423 wOBA , .306 ISO and 40.6 percent hard contact rate this season and has been even better against lefties away from Wrigley Field, with his road wOBA now at .432.

SHORTSTOP

Manny Machado, BAL at CWS ($4,200): Machado provides another right-handed power bat against James Shields. The Orioles slugger has a .374 wOBA, .243 ISO, 36.2 percent hard contact rate and 19 homers against right-handed pitchers, while Shields' vulnerability to righty bats was detailed earlier.

OUTFIELD

Mike Trout, LAA at SEA ($4,300): Trout has double-digit fantasy points in four of his last six games and a homer in two straight. He's punished southpaws to the tune of a .369 wOBA, and he has a massive 45 percent hard contact rate against them on the road. Opposing starter James Paxton has given up a .326 wOBA to right-handed hitters, along with a 34.1 percent hard contact rate to them at home.

Yasmany Tomas, ARI vs. MIL ($4,900): Tomas' bat is on fire, as he's blasted four homers over the last three games, including two Saturday. He's hitting .400 (18-for-45) with three doubles, eight homers and 14 RBI over his last 12 games and has a pair of homers over six career at-bats against Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson. Tomas has 14 of his 21 homers on the season against right-handed pitchers, and Nelson has given up a .331 wOBA to right-handed hitters on the road.

Jay Bruce, NYM at DET ($5,500): Starter Anibal Sanchez has actually done a much better job of limiting the long ball as the season has gone on, but he has still allowed a .360 wOBA to left-handed hitters, which rises to .380 when facing them at home. Bruce has a .371 wOBA and .312 ISO against righties this year, and a 40.7 percent hard contact rate when facing them on the road. He's also gotten his Mets tenure off to a solid start, with a hit in three straight games, including two home runs.
