PITCHER
Drew Pomeranz, BOS vs. NYY ($9,100): Stories of unreleased medical information may scare some away from Pomeranz, but I will need to see more than a few bad starts and a vague news report to stop running him out there at this price, as he still has a 3.09 ERA and 27 percent strikeout rate. Pomeranz couldn't ask for a better matchup than the Yankees at home, as they have the seventh-lowest wOBA in the league against left-handed pitchers, and are a bottom-three team away from Yankee Stadium.
Jason Hammel, CHC vs. LAA ($8,000): The Angels have performed fairly well against righties this year, but Hammel will get a sizable advantage in his home park, as the DH will be replaced by Ricky Nolasco batting ninth. Hammel's strikeout rate is a bit underwhelming, but he still has a 3.07 ERA and a hard contact rate below 30 percent.
CATCHER
Stephen Vogt, OAK vs. BAL ($3,800): We need to find hitters to exploit Yovani Gallardo's 5.90 xFIP against lefties wherever possible. Most of the A's hitters worth considering hit right-handed, but Vogt is still valuable at catcher, as he has a .166 ISO and a .278 batting average against right-handed pitchers.
FIRST BASE
Kennys Vargas, MIN vs. HOU, ($3,500): Vargas has compiled video game numbers against lefties over 16 at-bats this season, notching an ISO of .563. Those numbers are obviously unsustainable, but we have seen evidence that Vargas is comfortable against southpaws, as he tallied a .380 wOBA in 55 at-bats against them in 2015. Vargas has a 46 percent fly ball rate this season, which could give him an edge against the extreme ground ball profile of opposing starter Dallas Keuchel.
SECOND BASE
Ryan Schimpf, SD at PIT ($4,000): Schimpf would easily lead the league in fly ball percentage if he had enough at-bats to qualify, which bodes well for his matchup with a ground ball pitcher like Ryan Vogelsong, who pitched well in his first start since being hit in the face with a ball in May, but still has a 4.55 xFIP against left-handers.
THIRD BASE
Nolan Arenado, COL at TEX ($5,200):Martin Perez relies on his ground balls to get him out of tight spots, but he likely won't have that luxury against Arenado, who boasts the highest fly ball rate in the league among qualified hitters. While Arenado's numbers take a dip on the road, Globe Life Park in Arlington is still a hitter-friendly environment, and Perez has kept an xFIP close to 5.00 against right-handed hitters.
SHORTSTOP
Carlos Correa, HOU at MIN ($4,100):Ervin Santana has been on a nice run of late, but he still has a 1.3 HR/9 rate and 33 percent hard contact rate against right-handed hitters. Correa does his damage almost exclusively against same-handed pitchers, having notched a .281/.372/.513 batting line with a .232 ISO over 306 at-bats.
OUTFIELD
Matt Joyce, PIT vs. SD ($4,100):Edwin Jackson has actually had more decent outings than not since joining the Padres, but one has to question how long that will last, as he has a strikeout rate of just 12 percent and a 5.25 xFIP over three starts. After a few years off the radar, Joyce is back to slapping right-handed pitchers silly, tallying a .293 ISO against righties over 140 at-bats.
Adam Duvall, CIN at STL ($3,600): Duvall's cheap price and ability to take the ball out of the yard has made him a favorite target. Jaime Garcia used his tremendous ground ball rate to great effect in his outing against the Braves, but he may struggle against a hitter like Duvall, who has kept a fly ball rate of better than 44 percent.
Mark Trumbo, BAL at OAK ($4,600):Ross Detwiler has allowed too many walks, homers or both in his stints at the minor and major league levels this season. It's hard to glean much from his 4.2 relief innings with the Indians, but we know that Detwiler is a ground ball pitcher, and Trumbo hits the ball in the air nearly 44 percent of the time.
Other options: Ian Desmond, TEX vs. COL ($4,400); Jose Bautista, TOR vs. TB ($4,300); Robbie Grossman, MIN vs. HOU ($3,600)
