Pitcher
Ervin Santana, MIN at ATL ($7,600): Santana has been in fine form in recent starts, flashing a ceiling north of 60 fantasy points while firing a pair of complete games (one of which came against this same Braves squad), and scoring 36 to 49 fantasy points in his last three trips to the mound. The low end of that range was achieved against Atlanta on July 26 and Santana could be primed for another solid outing Tuesday. Although they've picked up the pace a bit at the plate in recent weeks, the Braves still sport a .295 wOBA and paltry .126 ISO against right-handed pitching. Santana has also posted a solid 2.41 ERA and surrendered just a .269 wOBA over his 33.2 post-All-Star break innings.
Catcher
Sandy Leon, BOS at BAL ($2,900): Leon has been a constant for me across the board the last couple of weeks, as his price seems stuck in neutral virtually everywhere. It certainly has nothing to do with a lack of production, as he's rattled off double-digit fantasy points in six of his last seven games including the last five. He takes aim at Orioles starter Yovani Gallardo on Tuesday, who's surrendered a .359 wOBA and 5.79 xFIP to lefty bats, while Leon has a .398 wOBA against right-handed pitching and an absurd 55 percent contact rate against that handedness outside of Fenway.
First Base
Albert Pujols, LAA vs. SEA ($3,100): Pujols has a healthy .365 wOBA and .245 ISO against left-handed pitching this season and a whopping 45.5 percent HR/FB rate and 51.2 percent hard contact rate against that handedness at home. Mariners rookie southpaw Ariel Miranda has been hit hard from both sides of the plate in his brief major league career, including a .398 wOBA and 52.6 percent hard contact rate surrendered to right-handed hitters.
Second Base
Dee Gordon, MIA at CIN ($3,400): If you're searching for a bit more pop out of your second baseman Tuesday without breaking the bank, both Jose Altuve ($3,800) and Ben Zobrist ($3,100) are very viable options. I'm tabbing Gordon however, who's been wielding a hot bat with double-digit fantasy points in nine of his last 10 games. He brings the added benefit of operating out of the leadoff spot and always offers the potential of a stolen base or two. He also draws a favorable matchup Tuesday against Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani, who's given up a .379 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season. Gordon has a .340 average and .350 wOBA over his first 12 games of August and could be primed to keep his hot streak going Tuesday.
Third Base
Yunel Escobar, LAA vs. SEA ($2,800): Escobar has seen his price dip a bit but still makes for a very solid cash game play in particular. He also offers another right-handed bat with which to try and exploit Miranda, albeit one with less pop than Pujols. Escobar has been outstanding against southpaws this season, tallying a .344 average and .393 wOBA. While he's been struggling in August, the matchup with Miranda could certainly serve to bring him out of his funk.
Shortstop
Troy Tulowitzki, TOR at NYY ($3,100): There not a lot that really stands out under the $3,500 threshold at shortstop, but Tulo serves as a solid candidate in a matchup against Michael Pineda. The Yankees righty has been particularly vulnerable to righties at home, where he's surrendered a .364 wOBA and 11 homers to that handedness along with a 33.9 percent hard contact rate. Meanwhile Tulo has actually fared better on the road against righty arms, tallying a .342 wOBA, .250 ISO and 37.9 percent hard contact rate. He brings a sky-high ceiling as evidenced by two recent games of 38.7 and 34.9 fantasy points and by his .367 wOBA over his last 42 plate appearances.
Outfield
Aaron Altherr, PHI vs. LOS ($2,900): Much like Leon, Altherr's price remains stagnant irrespective of his solid production. He currently has a five-game hitting streak and double-digit fantasy points in three of his last five contests. He also has the ability to contribute across the box score, even swiping the occasional bag. While the matchup against Kenta Maeda isn't appealing, Altherr remains underpriced relative to his upside and could be an under-owned option in tournaments Tuesday.
Christian Yelich, MIA at CIN ($3,000): As detailed earlier, DeSclafani struggles against left-handed hitting, making Yelich a highly appealing target at only $3K. The Marlins outfielder has mashed righties all season, posting a .400 wOBA, .212 ISO and all 12 of his homers as well as a 47.5 percent hard contact rate when facing them away from Marlins Park. He's also been putting the screws to the ball overall in August, with a 41.9 percent hard contact rate over 60 plate appearances, and the backdrop of hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark could certainly help yield more of the same.
Stephen Piscotty, STL at HOU ($3,100): Piscotty brings a massive .426 wOBA and .281 ISO against southpaws into Tuesday's matchup against Dallas Keuchel, while Keuchel surrenders a .332 wOBA to righty bats along with 15 of the 17 homers he's given up on the season. While he was outstanding in his last start versus the Rangers he'd given up seven earned runs the start prior to the Tigers, so there's certainly the potential for some production on the part of Piscotty, who has three straight games with double-digit fantasy points and homers in two of those contests.
