NFL Picks: Jets and Cardinals

This article is part of our NFL Picks series.

It was a mediocre week for the staff, and I mean that literally. Collectively we went .500 with three 8-8s, a 9-7 and a 7-9, and we were 2-2 on unanimous picks.

This week, we have two more unanimous choices: the Jets and Cardinals. Both Erickson and I have the Cardinals as our best bets.

Unanimous/Majority Picks

This week we have two unanimous picks, the Jets and Cardinals. We went 2-2 on unanimous picks last week, winning with the Lions and Redskins, losing with the Bengals and Saints, to bring our season record to 9-4. We went 7-9 on majority (three or more writers) picks to bring our season record to 26-22.

EricksonGoing super-chalky with my best bet, but Arizona left *so* many points on the board against Buffalo. Maybe they'll be permanently dumb (I doubt it), but physically they're no different than what we expected from them in that game... Went back and forth with Bengals-Dolphins, Panthers-Falcons, Lions-Bears... Giants are falling perfectly into their "flop when expected to do well, surprise when not expected to do well" continuum... I'm assuming Garoppolo plays and plays well against the Bills... Wary about going against the sharps with the Jags, as they pounded the Colts line.
PianowskiHue Jackson is quietly getting the Browns on the right track. If not for Josh McCown's injury, they probably beat Baltimore. Obviously they had Miami all but beaten last week. And even the Week 1 loss at Philly doesn't look so bad now, given that Bob Griffin mucked that game up, and we now see the Eagles actually are a solid team (Jim Schwartz's defense is legit, and their rookie QB was far more prepared than most recognized). Why should Washington spot eight points to anyone? I fully expect a close game here.
LissThe Cardinals play much better at home, and I think they bounce back against a Rams team that lacks balance on both sides of the ball. I also like the Chargers facing the Saints at home. The Saints bats aren't the same away from Coors Field. I also like the Jets at home against a gimpy Russell Wilson, assuming he even plays.
StopaCarolina is in a nice spot to bounce back and blow out the Falcons. Otherwise it's lots of dogs for this struggling handicapper.
Del DonI feel like a square taking so many favorites, including four of them on the road, but that's how I see it this week... After the Cowboys, the Browns, Patriots and Broncos are my next favorite bets of the week.
