FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Hector Santiago, MIN vs. OAK ($7,400): The easy cost-saving option would appear to be Santiago's adversary Kendall Graveman ($7,800), given that he hasn't allowed more than two runs in any start to date. Santiago, however, has given up three or fewer runs in each of his starts, and the Athletics rank second last in runs scored while having the fourth-= highest strikeout rate in the league at 24.4 percent.

Catcher

Christian Vazquez, BOS at BAL ($2,500): After sitting out Tuesday, Vazquez seems to offer a cheap option against a struggling Kevin Gausman, who has allowed 18 runs and 24 hits over his last 14.0 innings. Vazquez has a .445 wOBA and 1.035 OPS against righties through 33 at-bats to open the year.

First Base

Josh Bell, PIT at CIN ($2,900): Stacking Pirate bats seems wise against starter Rookie Davis, who has allowed 12 earned runs, 18 hits and seven walks through 9.2 frames this year. Bell has gone deep twice in his last five games and has a wOBA of .362 against righties since the start of 2016.

Second Base

Josh Harrison, PIT at CIN ($3,300): If you pass on Bell for higher-priced options at first base, Harrison makes a lot of sense as the team's leadoff batter against the struggling Davis. Harrison has homered three times in the first two games of this series at Cincinnati, and has hit safely in eight of his last night games.

Third Base

Manny Machado, BAL at BOS ($3,700): Machado is breaking out of his early-season funk, having reached double-digit fantasy points in five straight games entering Wednesday, thanks in part to three home runs. He sports a .436 wOBA and .385 ISO against lefties this year entering a matchup with Drew Pomeranz, who has allowed four long balls to righties in four starts.

Shortstop

Tim Beckham, MIA vs. TAM ($2,900): Beckham's rise during the first month of the season has been nothing but shocking. He's hit safely in 12 of his past 15 games and brings a solid .336 wOBA against lefties on the year into Wednesday. He'll face off against Adam Conley, who is allowing a .348 wOBA to right-handed bats, in part due to a 17.8 percent walk rate.

Outfield

Avisail Garcia, CWS at KAN ($3,700): This game looks a little slippery, as it features two starting pitchers with ERAs of 5.00 or greater, but the total is set at just eight runs with both teams ranking in the bottom seven in runs scored. As such, it's best not to get too cute looking for a bargain and roll with the best of the options, and that's been Garcia, who brings a .411 wOBA against righties into a matchup against Nate Karns, who has allowed 10 runs over his last 10.2 innings.

Jayson Werth, WAS vs. ARI ($3,300): There's nary a bad choice in the league's highest scoring offense thus far, and Werth's sudden ascension into the two-hole ahead of Bryce Harper gives him plenty of scoring chances. He has a .445 wOBA and .352 ISO against lefties since the start of 2016 and has double-digit fantasy points in four of his last six starts.

Jorge Bonifacio, KAN vs. CWS ($2,400): Everything mentioned above regarding the curious over/under in this game can be thrown out the window with regard to Bonifacio. He's the opposite of Garcia — a hot, young bat with a limited sample size in what appears to be a plus matchup. Bonifacio has a .439 wOBA and .286 ISO over just 24 at-bats since debuting on April 21. His low price will come with low expectations that he can easily exceed against Mike Pelfrey, who has surrendered five runs in nine innings over two starts.
