Yahoo DFS Baseball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

PITCHER

Jacob deGrom, NYM at MIL ($51): It's always a dangerous proposition to use a pitcher in Milwaukee, but the strikeout potential is too tasty to pass up. Over his last five games, deGrom has accumulated 52 strikeouts despite not pitching past the seventh inning. He'll now face a Brewers team that struck out more than any team last season and has the second-most this year.

Jeff Samardzija, SF vs. CIN ($37): Samardzija's 0-5 record and 5.44 ERA look bad on the surface, but he's has a 1.19 WHIP and a K/9 rate north of 10. He has pitched at least seven innings in three straight starts, averaging 27.3 fantasy points per game during that span. This is not a lineup to be scared of either, with Cincinnati ranking 25th in runs scored on the road. There's no tougher park to hit in than AT&T Park as well, with the Reds scoring just six runs in 35 innings this series.

CATCHER

J.T. Realmuto, MIA vs ATL ($11): Realmuto has been one of the best catchers in the league this season and it's not evident through his price. All the top-tier catchers are in the high-teens and we are fortunate enough to use Realmuto at just $11. It's the matchup that's enticing, as the Marlins get to face R.A. Dickey, who sits with an ugly 1.43 WHIP and 5.3 K/9 rate. Meanwhile, Realmuto is averaging 6.7 fantasy points per game over his last nine.

FIRST BASE

Chris Davis, BAL at KC ($12): Davis is one of the best home-run hitters in the league and he's fortunate enough to face one of the worst home-run pitchers in recent memory. Chris Young led the league in home runs allowed per nine innings among pitchers who threw at least 35 innings last season, allowing a ghastly 2.84 HR/9. That just happens to be Davis' specialty, as he ranks top-three in the majors in home runs over the past three seasons.

SECOND BASE

Rougned Odor, TEX vs OAK ($11): Odor has had a disappointing season, but he appears to be getting out of his slump. He is averaging 6.9 fantasy points per game over his last 11 starts, including at least 4.2 in each of his last five. Odor also has the platoon advantage against Kendall Graveman, who posted a 6.97 ERA and 1.65 WHIP over his last two starts.

THIRD BASE

Evan Longoria, TAM at BOS ($13): Longoria has raked against the Red Sox throughout his career, as he is posting a .533 slugging percentage and .896 OPS against them over the past three seasons. What's better is the fact that he gets to face lefty Drew Pomeranz, as he has a .360 OBP and .850 OPS in that same span against southpaws.

SHORTSTOP

Corey Seager, LAD at COL ($21): It's always smart to use players in Coors Field, and getting one of the best hitters in the league at a discounted price there is hard to fade. Seager had scored at least 5.7 fantasy points in five straight games before a donut Saturday, but he'll now face Antonio Senzatela, who has a 4.9 K/9, which is dangerous against a contact-heavy Seager in a park like Coors Field.

OUTFIELD

Jose Bautista, TOR vs. SEA ($13): Bautista has he homered in three of his last four, and he is averaging over 13 fantasy points per game over his last five. He now gets to face a weak lefty in Ariel Miranda, who allowed eight runs in 3.1 innings in his most recent start and has allowed righties to post a .383 OBP and .859 OPS against him throughout his career.

Mark Trumbo, BAL at KC ($13): Trumbo leads the league in home runs since the beginning of 2016, so he too has a solid matchup against the KC righty who allows homers at ease. Trumbo is really starting to turn things around after a poor start too, averaging 7.4 fantasy points per game over his last 15. He's also homered in two of his last five games.

Curtis Granderson, NYM at MIL ($9): This is our BvP play of the day, as Granderson has owned Wily Peralta throughout their careers. While 14 at-bats is not a huge sample size, the fact that he has six extra-base hits and a 2.100 OPS against Peralta has to open some eyes. All that production comes at quite the discount too, with Granderson priced just $2 above the minimum price. Hitter-friendly Miller Park is a great environment for Granderson as well, as he has posted a 1.215 OPS there in his career.
