FanDuel MLB: Friday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Clayton Kershaw, LAD at MIL ($12,400) – There are two excellent options at the top of the board with Kershaw and Stephen Strasburg, but I like Kershaw coming off a poor performance and facing a team that's struggling to find its way right now. Milwaukee was an offensive force early in the season, but with Ryan Braun on the DL and Eric Thames coming back to earth, there aren't many, if any bats to fear in that lineup right now. Kershaw will atone for his horrible performance against the Cubs last Sunday and put up big numbers against a Brewers lineup that has a K% of 24.4% against lefties.

Catcher

Tyler Flowers, ATL at CIN ($2,700) – This is the kind of spot where it'd be nice if Freddie Freeman were active, but since he's not, we'll roll with Flowers against Bronson Arroyo. Flowers leads all active Braves with a .412 wOBA against righties this season.

First Base

Albert Pujols, LAA vs MN ($3,100) – First base is always loaded, but if you are looking to spend money elsewhere, Pujols provides good value at his current price. Pujols has stepped up in the absence of Mike Trout, averaging 15.6 fantasy points per game over his past six. Pujols and the Angels should have plenty of success against Kyle Gibson, who enters with a 7.85 ERA.

Second Base

Jose Peraza, CIN vs ATL ($2,600) – Peraza is starting to heat up and you can thank his baserunning for that. Peraza has posted 24.5 and 21.2 fantasy points is his last two games and most of that can be attributed to a total of four stolen bases. He gets righty Mike Foltynewicz on Friday, which is good news because 10 of his 14 stolen bases this season have come while right-handers were on the mound.

Shortstop

Xander Bogaerts, BOS at BAL ($3,800) – The Red Sox get Alec Asher, who surrendered six runs in his most recent start. Bogaerts has been the best BoSox hitter against righties this season with a .372 wOBA.

Third Base

Alex Bregman, HOU at TEX ($2,700) – I'm generally not a fan of drafting guys that are facing an ace, as is the case with Bregman against Yu Darvish, but Bregman has been so hot over his past three games, he's worth the risk. Bregman has six hits, three home runs and six RBI over his past three games while averaging 26.8 points during that span.

Outfield

Giancarlo Stanton, MIA vs AZ ($4,100)Giancarlo Stanton is a go anytime he faces a lefty not named Kershaw or Chris Sale. His wOBA against lefties this season is an outrageous .534, which is good for third in the majors. He gets a crack at Patrick Corbin, who struggled to the tune of 10 hits and seven runs in his most recent start.

Seth Smith, BAL vs. BOS ($3,000) – Smith is usually a good option against righties because he sits atop a normally potent lineup, but he's an even better value against Rick Porcello because he's hitting over .400 against him in 22 at-bats. Porcello has managed to escape trouble recently, but he's allowed a lot of hits over his past four starts (40 in 25 innings).

Aaron Judge, NYY at TOR ($4,100) – Judge missed out on most of the fun Thursday with only one on the Yankees' 15 hits, but he still managed to post double-digit fantasy points. He's posted double-digits in five consecutive games and that number should reach six against Francisco Liriano. Liriano still shows flashes of brilliance, but he is no longer dominant and a non-dominant lefty is all you need to pull the trigger on Judge, as his wOBA against lefties this season is .441.
