FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Trevor Bauer, CLE at KAN ($8,500): Bauer's appeal is his strikeout upside. He's fanning batters at a 29.9 percent clip, seven percentage points higher than his previous career high. Facing a still light-hitting Royals offense that has a .293 wOBA and .150 ISO against righties should help mitigate Bauer's 6.00 ERA, and Bauer has a 3.04 ERA with 21 strikeouts over his last 23.2 innings at Kauffman Stadium, allowing a .239 BAA.

CATCHER

Yan Gomes, CLE at KAN ($2,700): This comes with a buyer beware, as Gomes has started each of the last two contests and isn't a sure bet to play Sunday. But assuming he does, he'll bring a .400 wOBA, .306 ISO and 153 wRC+ against lefties into a matchup with rookie Eric Skoglund, who had a 4.53 ERA in Triple-A before his surprising 6.1 shutout innings in his MLB debut.

FIRST BASE

Brandon Belt, SFG at PHI ($3,500): Belt brings a .392 wOBA, .277 ISO and 47.1 percent fly ball rate into a matchup with Jeremy Hellickson, who labored through May with a 7.04 ERA and has allowed a 51.5 percent fly-ball rate to lefties.

SECOND BASE

Brandon Drury, ARI at MIA ($2,100): The keystone has turned into such a mess of a fantasy position, that in Sunday's main slate, two of the top five priced options are on the DL, and the top-priced option (Devon Travis) hit .130 in April. Drury has seen his price fall to the point where there is next to no risk. He has scuffled a bit of late, but still hit .273 in May and brings a .362 wOBA and 119 wRC+ into Sunday.

THIRD BASE

Pablo Sandoval, BOS at BAL ($2,800): Sandoval is 4-of-9 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored in three games since being activated from the disabled list. He's been significantly better against right-handed pitching, posting a .344 wOBA compared to .185 against southpaws, numbers in line with his 2015 splits of .322/.210. Meanwhile, O's starter Chris Tillman is allowing a .431 wOBA and .995 OPS to left-handed bats.

SHORTSTOP

Dansby Swanson, ATL at CIN ($2,900): Swanson entered the weekend in a 2-for-29 slump, but he has managed to go 3-for-8 with a homer, walk and two RBI in the first two games at Great American Ballpark. He also carries a .422 wOBA and .320 ISO against southpaws into a matchup with Amir Garrett, who is returning from the disabled list and allowed 13 runs over his last nine innings before suffering a hip injury.

OUTFIELD

Michael Conforto, NYM vs. PIT ($3,900): Conforto has come back to earth a bit over the last two weeks, and it's pushed his price down below $4,000, creating a bit of a bargain if you believe he has staying power. His splits against right-handed pitching remain stout: .422 wOBA and .317 ISO, 1.032 OPS and 168 wRC+. A matchup with the Pirates' Trevor Williams and his 6.48 ERA on the road could be the recipe for Conforto to regain his groove.

Justin Upton, DET vs. CWS ($3,400): The always streaky Upton is surging, going 5-for-9, including four extra-base hits, in his last three games, with three runs scored and four RBI. He has a .340 wOBA against lefties, suggesting a floor that's safer than usual for a feast-or-famine player.

Chris Taylor, LOS at MIL ($3,100): Taylor sat out Friday's game, and the break to clear his head paid immediate dividends, as he went 3-for-4 with a homer Saturday. He boasts a .373 wOBA and 136 wRC+ against right-handed pitching and now faces off against Zach Davies, who has a 6.46 ERA at home while allowing a .450 wOBA and 1.016 OPS to right-handed batters.
