FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Trevor Williams, PIT vs. SFG ($7,700): This was a coin flip selection between Williams and Kevin Gausman ($7,100), as both are suddenly surging and have matchups worth consideration in GPPs. The Giants' last-ranked offense against righties was the difference, as they carry a .293 wOBA and 82 wRC+ into the game. Their 19.2 percent strikeout rate doesn't suggest that Williams can match the seven Ks he's earned in each of his last two outings, but Williams has allowed three runs or fewer in eight of his last nine outings, and has the matchup conducive to a quality start.

CATCHER

Salvador Perez, KAN vs. MIN ($3,100): I'm all in on this game after Saturday's double dip, as there's limited pitching available and there figures to be plenty of early swings on getaway day. It's going to result in one of two scenarios: a 2-1 finish or a game that features lots of hittable pitches and scoring. Perez has an impressive .341 wOBA and 110 wRC+ against lefties, and he has a similar profile within the first two pitches of an at-bat. His price has come down from the top tier catchers, further adding to the appeal.

FIRST BASE

Lucas Duda, NYM vs. PHI ($3,100): Phils' starter Nick Pivetta's current form (nine runs allowed in his last 8.2 frames) merits at least a cheap buy-in against, so enter Duda. He's got a more than respectable .391 wOBA and 145 wRC+ against righties while Pivetta is allowing a 1.053 OPS and .449 wOBA to lefties on the road.

SECOND BASE

Brian Dozier, MIN at KAN ($3,200): Dozier sat out the nightcap of Saturday's twin bill, so hopefully that gives him some extra juice Sunday. He leads the Twins and ranks 19th amongst all hitters across the league with a .414 wOBA against lefties, adding a 161 wRC+ and .979 OPS. The Royals seem likely to deploy Travis Wood for a spot start, and they will have a limited bullpen after Saturday's 18 innings played. Wood has a 5.14 ERA at home and is allowing righties a .400 wOBA at Kauffman Stadium.

THIRD BASE

Miguel Sano, MIN at KAN ($3,500): All aboard a Twins stack Sunday, as both teams are coming off a high-scoring double-header Saturday and have limited arms available. Sano has a .391 wOBA, 145 wRC+ and .294 ISO against lefties entering a matchup with the aforementioned Wood.

SHORTSTOP

Xander Bogaerts, BOS at TOR ($3,400): Bogaerts has four RBI in his last two games after driving in just one in his prior six appearances. He has a .358 wOBA and 119 wRC+ against righties, both team-highs, entering a matchup with Joe Biagini, who has allowed 13 runs over his last 12.0 innings.

OUTFIELD

Steven Souza Jr., TAM vs. BAL ($3,300): Despite myself flirting with O's starter Kevin Gausman as a sleeper pick given his last two outings, he's been combustible enough to at least buy a small stake against him. Souza has a .388 wOBA and 148 wRC+ against righties, second to only Corey Dickerson in their lineup. He's gone long in two straight while Gausman carries a 7.60 ERA on the road, where he's allowing a .432 wOBA and 1.012 OPS to same-handed batters.

Marcell Ozuna, MIA at MIL ($3,400): Ozuna's current form (10-of-48 since June 16) leaves plenty to be desired. That should lead to low ownership in an inviting matchup with Junior Guerra, who has allowed at least three runs in each of his last four starts, and 11 runs in his last 10.0 frames. Ozuna still has a .395 wOBA and 145 wRC+ against righties despite his recent showings.

Billy Hamilton, CIN vs. CHC ($3,200): Buying Hamilton is a clear play on Cubs' starter Jake Arrieta's now well documented slow delivery. Hamilton has 33 steals on the year, 29 of which have come against right handers, and he hasn't picked a bag in three games. He has reached base in eight straight contests, and while his .294 wOBA against righties doesn't lend itself to huge confidence, it just takes one steal to approach a double-digit scoring performance.
