DraftKings MLB: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings MLB: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Brad Peacock, HOU at ATL ($9,600): Since moving into the rotation, Peacock has posted a 2.31 FIP and 35.9 strikeout percentage through seven outings. He's struggled with command and hasn't been able to pitch overly deep into games, but that's also likely tied to stretching out and transitioning his approach. He offers a nice floor because of his ability to strike out batters, and there is potential for a monster showing if he reins in control. There is nothing scary about the Braves' 21st-ranked .312 wOBA against righties, either.

Lance Lynn, STL vs. MIA ($6,900): There's a wide range of outcomes for Lynn, but this salary doesn't account for his upside. He's coming off a solid start at Chase Field where he held the Diamondbacks to three runs through six frames with seven strikeouts. Miami owns a middling .317 wOBA against righties, and Lynn has a respectable 8.6 K/9 and 22.8 strikeout percentage. He also doesn't have to be lights out to reward at this price.

CATCHER

Alex Avila, DET vs. SFG ($4,000): The catcher has consistently batted second against right-handed pitchers this season and sports an impressive .440 on-base percentage and .441 wOBA against them for the year. Matt Cain is also a soft matchup with a .384 wOBA surrendered to left-handed hitters dating back to 2015.

FIRST BASE

Yonder Alonso, OAK vs. CHW ($4,100):James Shields has been crushed by lefty bats this year to the tune of 2.7 HR/9 and a 4.02 wOBA, but his struggles are long standing with 2.0 and .378 marks since 2015. Alonso is in the midst of a career year and owns a .262 ISO and .396 wOBA against right-handed arms for the season. This price is also manageable considering the matchup.

SECOND BASE

Jed Lowrie, OAK vs. CHW ($4,400): Continuing to target James Shields, Lowrie is having a nice season against right-handed arms. His .363 wOBA obviously jumps off the page, but he's also been locked into the three-hole of the lineup since mid-May and sports a respectable .831 OPS from that spot in the order this year.

THIRD BASE

Mike Moustakas, KC at SEA ($4,100): There are probably safer matchups to chase, but Moustakas' has been excellent against righties this season, and he could prove to be an against-the-grain steal at this salary. After all, Felix Hernandez has allowed three homers with a 5.56 FIP through his two starts since returning from the disabled list, and Moustakas boasts a .290 ISO and .371 wOBA against right-handed hurlers for the year.

SHORTSTOP

Trevor Story, COL vs. CIN ($4,300): After posting a .443 wOBA against right-handed pitchers at Coors Field last season, Story is all the way down to a .295 mark in 2017. He's got the right matchup to turn around his fortunes Tuesday, too. Homer Bailey is making just his 11th start since 2015 and has allowed a .371 wOBA to right-handed hitters during that stretch.

OUTFIELD

Aaron Judge, NYY vs. TOR ($5,500):J.A. Happ has been excellent against right-handed hitters dating back to last season and held them to a .292 wOBA since last year. Judge's ownership could remain in check as a result. The outfielder has crushed southpaws this season, and has proven to be a matchup proof option. Yankee Stadium is also a ripe hitting environment for Judge to build on his 1.199 OPS, .365 ISO and .490 wOBA against lefties.

Adam Duvall, CIN at COL ($5,200): With the Coors Field boost alongside Duvall's success against southpaws, expect him to be a popular option. He's posted a .375 ISO and .446 wOBA against lefties for the year, and oddly, Kyle Freeland has better home numbers (3.21 ERA, 3.70 FIP and .306 wOBA allowed) than road marks (4.35, 5.84 and .359). Sustaining that success at Coors is asking a lot.

Lonnie Chisenhall, CLE vs. SDP ($4,300): While it would be nice to see Chisenhall batting higher than sixth, it's been a cushy spot for him to drive in runs (22 through his past 73 plate appearances), and he's been excellent against righties again this season (.293 ISO and .386 wOBA). Trevor Cahill is also making his first start since May 13.
