FanDuel MLB: Friday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Carlos Carrasco, CLE at OAK ($9,500) – This selection comes down to Carrasco and Jacob deGrom, but Carrasco has a slightly better matchup and he's $1,400 less. Carrasco was on a roll prior to the All-Star break, posting scores of 47 or better in five of his past six starts. Oakland's K% against righties is second highest in the majors.

Catcher

Stephen Vogt, MIL vs PHI ($2,500) – Vogt was released by the A's earlier this season, but since joining the Brewers, he's playing like the guy that made the All-Star Game in 2015 and 2016. Vogt is part of a platoon in Milwaukee, and with a righty on the mound, he should be in the lineup. Vogt enters with a .481 wOBA against righties since joining the Brewers. Nick Pivetta takes the mound for the Phillies, and he enters with a 4.73 ERA.

First Base

Eric Thames, MIL vs PHI ($3,500) – Thames enters with a .407 wOBA against righties this season. I'll cap the number of Brewers in this article at two, but their lineup is stacked with lefties that have great numbers against righties, so I would recommend looking at more than just Vogt and Thames.

Second Base

Jonathan Schoop, BAL vs CHC ($3,400) – With Mike Montgomery on the mound for the Cubs, the Orioles make for a great stacking option. Schoop was possibly the most consistent hitter in the Orioles lineup during the first half of the season, which means he should be a part of any Baltimore stack. Schoop enters with a .385 wOBA against lefties this season, which is tops on the team.

Shortstop

Jean Segura, SEA at CHW ($3,800)James Shields takes the mound for the White Sox, and although his ERA of 4.95 is almost respectable, he's shown signs lately that the wheels are about to come off. Shields has allowed six runs in two of his past three starts, and he has another tough matchup in front of him against the Mariners. Segura enters with a .376 wOBA against righties this season.

Third Base

Manny Machado, BAL vs CHC ($3,100) – Over his past three starts, opposing pitcher Montgomery has allowed 13 runs in just 12 innings. Machado had a poor first half, but he still managed a respectable .338 wOBA against lefties.

Outfield

Jay Bruce, NYM vs COL ($3,300) – Bruce has been very efficient against righties this season, so much so that whenever he faces a non-elite righty, he's in-play. At this current price, he offers a ton of value facing righty Jon Gray, who has pitched pretty well this season, but is nowhere near elite. Bruce enters with a .392 wOBA against righties and has hit 19 of his 23 home runs off them.

Ian Happ, CHC at BAL ($3,400) – Gausman enters with a 5.85 ERA, and although he put two good starts together a couple weeks ago, he was back to his old ways in his most recent start against the Twins when he allowed five runs in four innings. The Cubs underperformed in the first half of the season, but Happ enters with a .363 wOBA against righties this season.

Steven Souza, TB at LAA ($3,200)Ricky Nolasco takes the hill for the Angels, and although he had a two-game stretch where he looked pretty good, he was hammered in his most recent start. Souza enters with a .390 wOBA against righties this season.
