Yahoo DFS Baseball: Monday Picks

PITCHER

Jose Quintana, CHC vs. CIN ($46): This is a lot of money to put on a guy that has fallen off, but the matchup should help. The Reds have some of the worst numbers against lefties since the All-Star break with a .286 wOBA and 24.2 percent K rate. Quintana should capitalize on that with his 25.0 percent rate against both sides of the plate. He's a guy that you can rely on for strikeouts and that's the reason to back him.

Ty Blach, SF at MIA ($32): In order to save a few bucks, I'll take Blach, even as a small underdog. His numbers have remained consistent throughout the season, and he's reached at least 13.7 fantasy points in his last seven starts and at least 7.0 innings pitched in the last five. The Marlins haven't been good against lefties with a .290 wOBA since the break.

CATCHER

James McCann, DET at TEX ($14): Only a threat against lefties, McCann has juiced his wOBA to .431 with a .324 ISO. His struggles against righties can be forgotten with Martin Perez on the mound, who is coming off his first good outing since May. Perez remains hard to trust with a 5.18 xFIP and much smaller 12.5 percent K rate against righties.

FIRST BASE

Eric Hosmer, KC at OAK ($20): Hosmer's price is still at a reasonable level even with his recent success, as seen in his .446 wOBA and .282 ISO against righties since the break. Jharel Cotton has struggled more than usual lately and gives up a .348 wOBA and 5.91 xFIP to lefties. I'm not a Royals fan, but Hosmer continues to hold great value.

SECOND BASE

Ian Kinsler, DET at TEX ($15): In case you haven't noticed, I don't trust Perez, who gave up 15 runs in his two starts prior to locking down the Mets last outing. Kinsler isn't getting traded and while he missed Sunday's game, should be ready for Monday after getting hit on the hand Saturday. He has a .408 wOBA and .276 ISO in his last 30 at-bats against lefties. If he can't go, Javier Baez ($16) is a similarly priced good option.

THIRD BASE

Rafael Devers, BOS vs. CLE ($14): This is a tough spot for Devers, but I'll test my luck with him at Fenway for a cheap price. Devers has a .410 wOBA and .268 ISO against righties, but those numbers jump to .462 and .269 in home games. Most people won't go against Trevor Bauer given how he's dealing, but he still has a .353 wOBA allowed to lefties for the season.

SHORTSTOP

Tim Beckham, BAL at SEA ($16): As long as Beckham's price doesn't go any higher, I'll continue to use him in plus matchups. He has some of the best numbers against righties in August with a .612 wOBA and .425 ISO in 40 at-bats. Even better, Yovani Gallardo has been worse against righties with a .352 wOBA allowed and 5.07 xFIP.

OUTFIELD

Melky Cabrera, KC at OAK ($17): Cabrera is another guy I've shown favoritism towards over the past week and he keeps backing it up with a hit in nine straight games, including three homers. In the same mold as Beckham, Cabrera has a .458 wOBA and .297 ISO against righties in his last 40 at-bats. To go with Cotton's bad numbers against lefties, he has given up 18 runs in his last four starts.

Aaron Judge, NYY vs. NYM ($18): Judge's recent struggles are well documented, but I'm taking a flier on him in a good spot. For starters, 19 of his homers have come at home against righties, which aligns with his .478 wOBA and .419 ISO in that situation. Rafael Montero hasn't made it six innings in any of his last six starts and has given up at least four runs in each of them.

Gerardo Parra, COL vs. ATL ($20): I'll close with a guy that's easy to trust as Parra has a .527 wOBA and .269 ISO in his last 30 at-bats against righties at home. He also faces a pitcher that can't figure things out as Julio Teheran has given up 16 runs in his last three starts and hasn't pitched more than five innings in any of them. A trip to Coors Field isn't going to help.
