FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Lance Lynn, STL at SFG ($7,800): Lynn has scored between 25 and 43 fantasy points in 11 of his last 12 starts. He's been solid on the road as well, as evidenced his 3.40 ERA, .218 BAA and an 8.17 K/9 over 79.1 innings, and he has a 2.28 ERA and .292 wOBA allowed over 55.1 second-half innings. Lynn also offers a very good floor relative to price, as he's posted nine quality starts in his last 10 trips to the mound and will be working in a pitcher-friendly park.

CATCHER

Austin Barnes, LAD at SDP ($2,000): Barnes gives you a highly viable minimum-priced punt if he's in the lineup Saturday, as he sports a .369 wOBA, .250 ISO and 37.5 percent hard contact rate versus southpaws, and a .556 average in nine plate appearances against Padres lefty Clayton Richard. Richard has yielded a .375 wOBA, including 22 homers, to right-handed hitters, along with a 36.7 percent hard contact rate when facing them at Petco Park.

FIRST BASE

Josh Bell, PIT vs. CIN ($3,500): The switch-hitting Bell has been much better from the left side, posting a .362 wOBA (including 16 homers) against righties along with a 38.0 percent hard contact rate when facing them at home. Reds starter Tyler Mahle will be making only his second major-league start, and Reds relievers have an 8.87 ERA and have allowed a majors-high .447 wOBA to lefty bats on the road in the last month.

SECOND BASE

Robinson Cano, SEA vs. OAK ($3,100): Cano's body of work against A's starter Jharel Cotton includes a .556 average and two homers over nine plate appearances, and he's sporting a .355 wOBA (including 15 homers) and .206 ISO against right-handed pitching. Cotton has a 5.94 ERA and a .348 wOBA allowed in 33.1 second-half innings, and is due for regression against lefty bats on the road based on a .191 BABIP that's combined with a 4.88 xFIP. Oakland relievers also have a 4.88 ERA against left-handed hitters on the road in the last month.

THIRD BASE

Mike Moustakas, KAN at MIN ($3,100): Moustakas has 28 of his career-best 36 homers on the season versus right-handed pitching, and a .346 average over 30 plate appearances against Twins starter Kyle Gibson. The veteran right-hander has been vulnerable to both LHB and RHB and has allowed a .413 wOBA, 5.36 xFIP and 33.6 percent hard contact rate to lefty bats at Target Field. Moustakas has a .384 wOBA, .337 ISO, 23.9 percent HR/FB rate and 39.3 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching on the road.

SHORTSTOP

Enrique Hernandez, LAD at SDP ($2,000): The struggles of Padres starter Richard against right-handed hitting were detailed earlier, while Hernandez checks in as a second minimum-priced option against him. He usually gets the starting call against lefties with good reason, as he boasts a .398 wOBA, .350 ISO, 29.4 percent HR/FB rate and 43.0 percent hard contact rate versus that handedness. He's also coming off a month of August where he posted a season-best 44.8 percent hard contact rate.

OUTFIELD

Adam Duvall, CIN at PIT ($3,300): Duvall takes his hacks against Pirates starter Jameson Taillon, who's allowed a .369 wOBA and 36.1 percent hard contact rate to right-handed hitters at home. Duvall owns a .350 wOBA, .298 ISO and 37.0 percent hard contact rate versus righties on the road, and a .375 average, including two homers, over 17 plate appearances versus Taillon. Pirates relievers also have a 4.61 ERA and have allowed a .335 wOBA (including eight homers) to righty bats at PNC Park in the last month.

Carlos Gomez, TEX vs. LAA ($3,200): Gomez's resume against right-handed pitching at Globe Life Park includes a .435 wOBA, .298 ISO, 28.6 percent HR/FB rate and 43.4 percent hard contact rate. Angels starter Ricky Nolasco has given up a .429 wOBA (including 12 homers), a 35.3 percent HR/FB rate and 43.8 percent hard contact rate to right-handed hitters on the road, dovetailing perfectly fantasy-wise with Gomez's numbers.

Steve Pearce, TOR at BAL ($2,800): Pearce has thrived against southpaws on the road, posting a .369 wOBA, .286 ISO, 37.5 percent HR/FB rate and 48.4 percent hard contact rate. Meanwhile, Orioles lefty Wade Miley has allowed a .367 wOBA (including 18 homers) to right-handed hitters, and a .412 average over 17 plate appearances to Pearce.
