Tim Dillard (P) MIL |
2/5/2010 |
| Dillard cleared waivers on Friday and has been sent to Triple-A Nashville, the Brewers' official website reports. |
Dillard was removed from the 40-man roster on Wednesday so the Brewers could claim pitcher Marco Estrada off waivers from the Nationals. |
|
Marco Estrada (P) MIL |
2/3/2010 |
| Estrada was claimed off of waivers by the Brewers on Wednesday. |
Estrada held his own at Triple-A Syracuse in 2009, striking out 133 in 136.1 innings. The Brewers will likely start him in the minors, and he could get a shot in the majors at some point during the season. |

Tim Dillard (P) MIL |
2/3/2010 |
| Dillard was designated for assignment on Wednesday. |
Dillard spent most of 2009 as a starter at Triple-A Nashville after being a reliever in 2008. His strikeout rate dropped to 3.9 K/9IP so his major league prospects weren't looking very good. |

11/8/2008 |
| After firing manager Ned Yost down the stretch of the regular season, Brewers GM Doug Melvin acted quickly following the end of the 2008 MLB playoffs to fill the voids in his coaching staff. Melvin began by naming former Oakland A's manager Ken Macha as the new manager and promoting last season's bench coach -- and interim manager -- Dale Sveum to hitting coach. Then, in a somewhat surprise move, the Brewers hired departed Mets manager Willie Randolf as their bench coach. All of this following the Brewer's best season showing since they reached the world series in 1982. Now we know that the Brewers are willing to spend big time money for big time names, but it is yet to be seen if such high profile hirings will translate to post-season success. If nothing else, GM Doug Melvin is attempting to change the culture in Milwaukee, from a small-market, small budget, and small potential organization, to a perennial contender. |
