The former fan favorite returns to Sacramento to act as a scoring option off the bench.
: Jackson can play both guard spots, but will primarily be used as Chris Paul’s backup at the point. Staying healthy is a concern as Jackson has missed significant time in four of the last five seasons. He broke some ribs last season and that lingered upon his return to the lineup. He can drive to the basket or hit the three, but probably shoots more than he needs to. The Hornets could really use someone to direct the team when Paul is resting and Jackson’s the best they got off the bench. If healthy, he’ll get between 20-25 minutes a night.
Jackson has made a career as a sixth man, bringing energy off the bench. He will continue this role with the Hornets, taking Speedy Claxton’s place. Jackson will play meaningful minutes if coach Scott uses the same formula of pairing two point guards in the backcourt for spurts at a time. Jackson can put up 12 points, 3 assists, a steal, and a three pointer per game.
If Jackson is able to stay healthy this season, he is a good bet to produce double-digit points with a few rebounds and assists, as well as a steal per game. Jackson missed 57 games last season due to injury, however, and he has not played in more than 60 games since 2001. Jackson is expected to be at full health to start the season, but he is too much of an injury risk to warrant being taken before the late rounds of your fantasy draft.
If Jackson is able to stay healthy this season, he can be counted on for 13 points, four rebounds, two assists, and a steal per game. Jackson missed 32 games with an abdominal tear last season, however, and he has not played in more than 60 games since 2001. Jackson is expected to be at full health to start the 2004 season, but he is too much of an injury risk to warrant being taken before the late rounds of your fantasy draft.
Winner of the 2002-2003 Sixth Man Award, Jackson had a career year, averaging 15.2 points per game. He will play the same role this season, backing up Mike Bibby at the point and playing some time at shooting guard. Jackson should see a slight dip in production this year, however, given that last year's numbers were slightly inflated because he started 26 games while Bibby was injured. Expect 13 points, three rebounds, three assists, a steal, and 25-30 minutes per game out of Jackson this season.
