A training camp injury cost Potapenko the first month of last season and a shot at starting center. This season, the position is all his as James cashed in with an outrageous offer from the Knicks. Potapenko has a nice jumper, which could come in handy on the pick-and-roll. Offense, though, will not be his primary focus. At best, he'll prove a consistent rebounder and add a handful of points per game.
Potapenko is yet another frontcourt disappointment for the Sonics. He has virtually no fantasy value and his minutes will be limited with the arrival of Danny Fortson and the return of Nick Collison.
Potapenko will compete with Calvin Booth and Jerome James for the starting center job. Potapenko has more experience than the other two, but he struggled last year, shooting 44.1 percent from the field. He is a solid rebounder. Even if he starts, he's likely to share significant minutes, making him irrelevant for fantasy purposes.
