'Big Nasty' retired in September 2007.
Williamson is the prototypical "tweener", a 6-7, 245-pound beast that plays like a power forward despite his relatively small size compared to most NBA fours. However, that is exactly why he is a great sixth man, as coaches love to throw him in to cause mismatches at the small forward position. Williamson loves to use his mass and strength to overpower perimeter oriented small forwards, and can score down low with the best of them. He will be a spark plug off the Kings bench this season.
Corliss brings a championship ring to Philadelphia and the toughness that some Sixers need to show. He averaged just under 20 minutes a game last season for Detroit, but was on a very deep team and was used mainly in key situations under Larry Brown. Look for him to average closer to 25 minutes a game and play at a higher level with more responsibility. He could provide a good boost off the bench.
With Michael Curry traded to Toronto, Williamson has a chance to start for the Pistons. Tayshaun Prince will give him a run during training camp for the small forward position, though, so be sure to check on Williamson's status before you draft him. The Big Nasty did average 12 points and 4.4 rebounds in 2002-3 while coming off the bench, but we'd expect those numbers to go up a bit this year if he's in Detroit's starting lineup.
