RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2013-14

There was no outlook written for Ron Mercer.

2003-04

Mercer is a scorer with decent defensive skills, but won't do much on the boards or in passing the ball for you. Minutes will be an issue again this season with the Spurs. In six NBA seasons, Mercer has played for Boston, Denver, Orlando, Chicago, Indiana, and now San Antonio. He's a shooter, and in San Antonio, shooters get more open shots thanks to Tim Duncan's constant double-teams, but five teams in six years says alot. Hedu Turkoglu seems like the long-term solution for the Spurs, and Mercer more of a stop-gap.
