Pollard has been little more than a warm body for the last few seasons, and we don’t expect that trend to reverse this year, even with a thin Celtics frontcourt. Pollard will only see minutes if the Celtics experience a rash of frontcourt injuries, and even then he won’t put up nearly enough production to become fantasy relevant.
The Cavs acquired PF/C Pollard for the express purpose of providing veteran depth behind Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Drew Gooden. At this point, fellow big men Gooden, Donyell Marshall, and Anderson Varejao are all more talented than Pollard and stand to see more playing time than the 15 minutes tops Pollard figures to get. He could peak at around four—points and rebounds per game, that is.
Pollard is a role player used primarily for his defense and rebounding. He won't always be guaranteed to be part of coach Rick Carlisle's regular playing rotation, especially if David Harrison improves as expected.
Only a fringe member of the Pacers’ playing rotation. When Foster is taken out of the game, more often than not the team will simply slide Jermaine O’Neal over to power forward rather than insert Pollard into the game. First-round draft pick David Harrison further threatens Pollard’s playing time.
Pollard will take over the departed Brad Miller's role at center for Indiana. This could be a slight plus for his fantasy value, but we'll have to see how the minutes are divied up. Pollard is a strong rebounder who could average in double-digits if he gets full-time minutes, but he's not much of a scoring threat, no matter how many minutes he plays.
