Although his natural position is power forward, Taylor is expected to back up Brad Miller at center. Regardless of his playing position, he probably won't log enough minutes to warrant a selection even in deeper fantasy leagues.
Taylor is a very solid inside scorer whose lax play on the boards and on defense drove Houston coach Jeff Van Gundy nuts. While he may post the occasional high-scoring night, he’s unlikely to receive consistent enough minutes to be a good option in fantasy leagues.
Taylor will see 20 minutes or so per game backing up Juwan Howard at the power forward spot. Expect some points and a few rebounds, but Taylor doesn't provide much more than that fantasy-wise.
Taylor returned from a ruptured Achilles tendon last season, and the results were spotty: 43% FG percentage, 8.4 ppg., 3.5 rpg. in 20.6 mpg. It's possible that Taylor will play better now that he's two seasons removed from his surgery, but it looks like he's on the downside of his career.
