Ira Newble

Backing up LeBron James is practically the NBA equivalent of backing up Peyton Manning in the NFL. Newble and his 1.3 ppg average won't see more than 10 mpg off the bench this season, and that's probably stretching it.

Newble will see some time backing up the shooting guard positions as well as the small forward position during the season. He is the only healthy player on the Cavs roster who can backup Larry Hughes, so if an injury should strike him, Newble may see more playing time. Barring this though, Newble will have minimal minutes and production since Hughes gobbles up so many minutes, and the Cavs have a logjam of talented forwards competing for time.

Newble has been hampered by injuries in the past, which limited his ability to contribute. He's a decent defender, so he'll get minutes here and there, but not enough to warrant any fantasy consideration.

Newble is a defensive specialist, which buys him playing time, but doesn’t translate into valuable fantasy production. He averaged 7.7 points and 3.7 rebounds for Atlanta in 2002-03.
