Nachbar and Jamario Moon are the veteran small forwards the Bobcats are targeting. Nachbar was the 15th overall pick of the 2002 draft by the Houston Rockets. He also played for the New Orleans Hornets and New Jersey Nets before playing the last three years in Europe. He has averaged 9.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in his NBA career.

Despite being a five-year veteran, Nachbar didn't truly mature until last season, when he posted career highs in every significant offensive category. Nachbar's season culminated in a spectacular April, in which he averaged 14.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and shot a blistering 58.7 percent from three-point range. That three-point percentage is no misprint, and should read like a giant billboard to fantasy owners looking for three-point shooting. Nachbar will still serve as Richard Jefferson's backup and see limited playing time, but he finally seems to be taking full advantage of the time that he's seeing, and would be an optimal waiver wire pickup should Jefferson become injured again, or just for a team looking to increase its shooting percentages.
Nachbar came to the Nets from the Hornets as part of a salary dump in the Marc Jackson trade last season. He averaged 4.4 ppg and 1.7 rpg in 36 games with the Nets. Nachbar is a 6-9 finesse forward with a decent shot facing the basket. He must improve his post up moves and his overall toughness. Nachbar has been known to complain about a lack of playing time, which might be disruptive to the chemistry of the team as the season moves on.
No one has yet to solidify the starting roll at small forward, but Nachbar seems to have the edge right now. He has nice range and can hit the three when given the opportunity. Nachbar doesn't really contribute too much outside of his threes, though, and will need to work on other areas of his game if he wants to stay the starter.
Nachbar will see some minutes backing up Jim Jackson at small forward, but unless Jackson were to get hurt, Nachbar's not going to play enough to help your fantasy squad. If he ever does get a chance to play decent minutes, expect some points and threes out of the sharp shooter.
Nachbar, a European sharpshooter, could push himself into the small forward mix with a good showing in camp, as neither Glen Rice nor Adrian Griffin are world-beaters right now.
