ANALYSIS
Erden will not be returning to the Cavs next season. They extended him a qualifying offer, but the big man's inability to carve out a role for the lowly Cavs after being acquired from the Celtics must have given him a bitter taste for the NBA. His absence should result in more time for Tristan Thompson and the rest of the Cavs' developing big men.

The defensive-minded backup center, Erden will miss the first two months of the season. Erden broke his left thumb while playing for Turkey’s Besitkas during the lockout, but he was probably not in line to help anyone’s fantasy team even if healthy.
Erden is a project in every sense of the word. He put up middling numbers in the Euroleague last season and looks to be at least three or four years from making any sort of NBA contribution, if at all. With the C’s depth at center and Erden’s inexperience, he should find himself at the end of the bench all year.
