Antonio Davis: Possible Return to Pacers
FFree Agent
August 25, 2006
Davis is said to have interest in returning to the Pacers, and the interest is believed to be mutual, the Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Davis, 37, is currently leaning towards retirement, but he has not ruled out one more season in the NBA. His only other likely destination would be Chicago, where he and his family live, but with the additions of Ben Wallace and P.J. Brown in the frontcourt, they don't seem to be a good fit.

Davis will reportedly receive a buyout of the remaining years on his contract from the Knicks, and could re-join the Bulls before the season begins.
Davis will be 36 by the time the season starts and could see a reduction in playing this season. He can still give you rebounds, but his double-figure scoring days may be over. He shot just 40.3 percent last season, down from a career 44.7 percent and scored four points less per game from his 2002-03 season. Davis will play more power forward in 2004-05, but will be coming off the bench behind Tyson Chandler.
For the first time in four seasons as a Raptor, Davis missed time with a significant injury. Despite the perception in Toronto that he's a malcontent, and his advancing age, he still put up solid fantasy numbers, and is too proud not to do so again. Look for another 14 points, nine rebounds per game, with a couple of assists and a block thrown in for good measure -- if he's traded, however, all bets are off, because he likely wouldn't be an offensive focal point on a deeper team.
