ANALYSIS
The veteran power forward appeared in 44 games and averaged 6.3 minutes per game for the season. Aside from being an enforcer off the bench, his value has always been linked to his ability to hit the open three, but his shot eluded him this season as he shot 20 percent from long-range on the year.

Cardinal earned the respect of teammates and fans for his hard-nosed style of play. He played key minutes in the Finals with Brendan Haywood slowed by injury. However the Custodian remains an end of the bench player and his style of play isn’t fantasy friendly.
He's only on the roster due to his $6.75 million expiring contract and could be traded at any point. He'll only get significant minutes with several injuries.
He was included as a throw-in as part of the Kevin Love/Mike Miller for O.J. Mayo deal. The $13 million and two years remaining on his contract make him a likely candidate to be traded at some point in the next year. In the meantime, he's not going to be given much of a chance to play in Minnesota without major injuries since he won't be around when/if the team becomes a playoff contender.
Cardinal missed the second half of the 2006-07 season after knee surgery, but indications are he'll be ready for the upcoming season. He won't see a lot of time and really isn't a fantasy factor.
Cardinal has shown over the past couple seasons that he is a decent role player that can grab a few boards and also shoot from the outside. His experience will likely earn him first crack at the backup power forward minutes this season. His numbers have been pretty consistent over the last couple seasons at around nine points, four rebounds, and both a steal and a 3-pointer per game. He may face some competition for minutes from newcomer Hakim Warrick, but if he gets around 20 minutes per game he’s likely to maintain a similar output level again this season.
