FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

Sunday is a fairly light day with only five games scheduled, and since there are games in both the early afternoon and in the evening, there are plenty of contest options that either group the early games (two games) and/or the late games (three games), or the full five-game slate. As such, there are different ways to mix and match players across the different contests to spice things up.

Point Guard
Brandon Knight at OKC ($7,000):
Knight hasn't been quite as productive as his more heralded backcourt mate Eric Bledsoe, but he has averaged 35.9 fantasy points per game over his last four and has earned more than 30 FPts in five straight.

Jordan Clarkson at NY ($6,500): Clarkson has been boom-or-bust this season, but Sunday looks like a good bet to be a "boom" game. He will be facing a Knicks defense that is 22nd in the NBA in fantasy points allowed to point guards, and outside of a clunker against the Mavs last Sunday, Clarkson has averaged 22.7 points, 3.0 boards, 1.7 assists and 1.7 combined steals/blocks per game in his other three most recent outings.

Shooting Guard
Eric Bledsoe at OKC ($8,000):
Last season Bledsoe had an incredible duel with Russell Westbrook when the latter went for 39 points, 14 boards, 11 assists and three blocks but Bledsoe countered with 28 points, 13 boards, nine assists, four blocks and a steal to lead the Suns to victory. There is no guarantee that they will re-capture that magic Sunday, but Bledsoe is averaging 41.6 FPts/G over his last four and the Thunder are dead last in the NBA in fantasy points allowed to opposing shooting guards.

C.J. McCollum at POR ($6,500): McCollum just continues to be a consistently solid value at a reasonable price. He has scored over 31 FPts in three straight outings, has not been under 27 FPts in any game this season, and has shown explosive potential if he gets hot, with a 47.7-FPt effort in the season opener.

Small Forward
Marcus Morris at POR ($6000):
Morris has quietly outshone his twin brother this season and has played really well against relatively weak defenses. He only averaged 22 FPts in his two outings against staunch defenses in Utah and Indiana, but in his other three outings he has averaged 34.9 FPts per game. Portland is right around league average in both points allowed per possession and pace, which means that Morris should have his opportunity to produce Sunday.

Power Forward
Julius Randle at NY ($5,900):
Randle has been strong in every game this season except for one, and outside of the Sacramento game when he was in foul trouble, he has averaged 16.8 points, 9.5 boards, 2.8 assists and 2.3 combined steals/blocks per game in his other four outings. Meanwhile, the Knicks are dead last in the NBA in fantasy points allowed to opposing power forwards.

Kristaps Porzingis vs. LAL ($5,200): The Lakers' defense is a fantasy feast for opposing offenses as the third-worst per-possession defense that also plays at the sixth fastest pace in the NBA. Meanwhile, Porzingis has played well of late, averaging 32.6 FPts per game over his last three.

Center
Mason Plumlee vs. DET ($5,400):
Plumlee is a bit of a risk at center, but he has been playing very well lately, averaging 10 points, 14 boards, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 combined blocks/steals over his last two games against the Jazz and the Grizzlies, both substantial frontlines. He has to face Andre Drummond on Sunday, but as long as he doesn't get into foul trouble he has shown the ability to hold his own. If you're looking for a sure thing at center, Drummond (even with his $9,200 price tag) is still a very good option. Jonas Valanciunas ($6,300) has averaged almost 29 FPts per game over his last four, and if Steven Adams' back keeps him off the court, Enes Kanter ($6,500) has explosive scoring potential.
