Yahoo DFS Basketball: Monday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Monday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

There are a few more options to choose from Monday with an unusually high slate of nine games. The most lopsided affair should be in Philadelphia, where the Spurs will take on the league's worst team. Seven of the top 15 offenses are set for action, which means plenty of high-scoring games from which to pluck players. The contest that figures to be a barn-burner is Bulls-Suns. Keep in mind that Chicago is also one of the worst rebounding teams this season, which could open up a couple of value plays at center with Jon Leuer ($13) and Alex Len ($12) set to split time if Tyson Chandler can't go.

GUARD

Jimmy Butler, CHI vs. PHO ($39) - The last time the Bulls played the Suns, Butler went off for a season-high 32 points, which translated into 44.7 fantasy points. He's also coming off a 25-point performance Saturday against the Hornets after struggling to find his shot the previous three games. The Suns are going to push the ball, and this game should be high scoring considering they're one of the least efficient defenses in the league. Butler is somewhat pricey, but offers enough upside and his ownership percentage should be relatively low for tournament use.

C.J. McCollum, POR at MIL ($30) -
You'll see a lot of lineups paying up for Damian Lillard with a favorable matchup against the Bucks, but if you want to save $16 with a high chance of 30-plus fantasy points, McCollum is the way to go. He's posted 38 or more FPts in his past two games and 30 or more in five of seven. Milwaukee is allowing opponents to shoot 36 percent from downtown with almost nine made three-pointers per game, so McCollum shouldn't have much trouble draining at least three from beyond the arc.

Guard to Avoid:

John Wall, WAS at MIA ($44) - Wall had been on a tear before coming back down to earth Friday against the Suns, scoring just 17 and finishing with 34.5 fantasy points. The Heat are one of the better defensive units this season and should force Wall into a lot of tough, low-percentage shots. As the second-highest priced guard for Monday's games, Wall is an easy fade option, especially considering Kyle Lowry comes at the same price and better matchup against the Lakers.

FORWARD

Marcus Morris, DET at CHA ($23) - In his last two games, Morris has scored 47 with 18 rebounds and six assists to a tune of 81.6 fantasy points. The Pistons are one of the hottest offenses, averaging 115 points per game on a three-game winning streak. The Hornets run a relatively small lineup, which should help out the undersized Morris and give him a chance to score at least 20 points in his third straight game. Morris is playing big minutes and even chipping in from distance with four three-pointers made in the last two games.

Jabari Parker, MIL vs. POR ($16) -
Parker missed the first month of the season, but with 15 games under his belt he's beginning to look like the future cornerstone the Bucks' envisioned back in 2014. He put up his highest fantasy point total of the season, 32.4, in Saturday's win over the Knicks and should continue to see more consistent playing time. The Blazers aren't a great defensive team and Parker should exploit the matchup with his length and athleticism. For the price, Parker offers a lot of lineup flexibility and is a great cash-game bargain player.

Forward to Avoid:

Kristaps Porzingis, NY vs. DAL ($34) - Porzingis will definitely be fired up to go up against Dirk Nowitzki, but he's also coming off one of his worst fantasy outings of the season, scoring just 12 points with seven rebounds and five turnovers Saturday against the Bucks. Porzingis had posted three consecutive double-doubles, which has boosted his salary considerably. The Mavs aren't really a matchup nightmare, but it's usually a good idea to stay away from highly priced forwards that are trending downward. LaMarcus Aldridge is a bit cheaper at $30 and will face the dismal 76ers.

CENTER

Pau Gasol, CHI vs. PHO ($29) - The last time Gasol failed to pull down double-digit rebounds was Nov. 18 -- which ironically was against the Suns -- but I doubt Phoenix will slow him Monday. He stilled managed to put up 31.1 fantasy points in that game and has been one of the most consistent centers all season. Gasol is averaging 39.6 FPts per game in his last six and has dished out four or more assists in four of those contests.

Center to Avoid:

DeAndre Jordan, LAC at MIN ($31) - Jordan has been an enigma this season, especially on offense, which shouldn't really surprise anyone. He's scored in double figures just twice in his last six games and is averaging just a block per game in his last five. The T-Wolves have done a great job limiting opponents on the glass, a stat Jordan is pretty much reliant on to post big fantasy numbers. Center is always an easy position to find value at with guys like Tim Duncan ($22) and Joakim Noah ($15) saving you a lot of salary with plus-matchups.
