There are four games on tap for Thursday, right at average for this night of the week. There are few enough options that there will be lots of overlap, but enough that there will be multiple avenues to success.
Point Guard
Jrue Holiday, NO vs LAL ($6800): With Tyreke Evans struggling with a knee injury that has kept him out of four straight games, and Eric Gordon already on the shelf, Holiday has the nightly opportunity to produce big numbers. He has scored more than 33 fantasy points in five of his last six games, and on Thursday he faces a Lakers defense that is 28th in the NBA in production allowed to opposing point guards.
Archie Goodwin, PHO vs HOU ($5100): Goodwin has been a bit hit-or-miss of late in his role as the replacement point guard for the Suns, but he's coming off of one of his best games with 18 points and 12 assists against the Raptors on Tuesday. If Brandon Knight has to miss another game with his groin injury, Goodwin would make a solid play against a Rockets defense that is 26th in the NBA in production allowed to opposing point guards.
Shooting Guard
Terrence Ross, TOR at POR ($4300): Ross has a larger opportunity with James Johnson struggling with an ankle injury. On Tuesday, with Johnson joining DeMarre Carroll on the shelf, Norman Powell entered the starting line-up for the Raptors but Ross far outplayed him with 16 points, three boards, an assist and a steal in 20 minutes of action.
Devin Booker, PHO vs HOU ($5400): Booker has been playing very well of late, averaging 20.8 points, 3.8 boardsand 3.0 assists over his last four games. On Thursday he faces a Rockets team that struggles defending opposing backcourts, though there is some blowout potential if the Rockets catch fire at home.
Small Forward
P.J. Tucker, PHO vs HOU ($4800): Tucker is the undisputed man at small forward for the Suns right now, with T.J. Warren on the shelf injured. While Tucker's game doesn't always translate to big fantasy numbers, he has scored at least 23 fantasy points in five of his last six games and he has averaged more than 40 minutes over his last two outings so he has huge opportunity right now.
Power Forward
Josh Smith, HOU at PHO ($4200): Smith is one of several talented forwards that the Rockets give minutes to, but he has the best mix of upside and low price. He got the start for the Rockets on Tuesday and responded with 19 points, four boards and three combined blocks and assists despite only playing 21 minutes.
Center
Jonas Valanciunas, TOR at POR ($6300): Valancinuas has had a few down games recently, around 20 fantasy points per over his last three, but he has easy mid-30s fantasy points potential on a given night with five 30-plus fantasy point efforts in his last 10 games. On Thursday he faces a slightly below average Trail Blazers center defense that is 18th in the NBA in production allowed to opposing centers.
