Yahoo DFS Basketball: Saturday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

There are just four NBA games on tap Saturday, leaving owners with limited options. The much-anticipated Clippers-Warriors showdown will garner a lot of attention, but there are strong value plays to be found from the rest of the slate as well with trade deadline moves shifting some roles. While choices are limited, these are the players best positioned to outperform their prices.

GUARD

Chris Paul, LAC vs. GS ($49) - Paul picked up Thursday right where he left off before the All-Star break, totaling 55.5 fantasy points for 123.5 over his last two games. The veteran point guard tends to step up in big games, so expect another high-usage performance as the Clippers go for a second straight statement win after beating the Spurs. There aren't many high-priced options available, but Paul is the most sensible choice.

Kyle Korver, ATL vs. MIL ($14) -
Korver came into the All-Star break hot from deep, hitting eight total three-pointers while topping 25.0 fantasy points in each of his last three games. Milwaukee's defensive weakness plays right into the sharpshooter's strength, as the Bucks allow the fifth-most three-pointers per game in the NBA. At just $14, Korver makes for a tremendous bargain considering his recent form and opponent Saturday.

Guard to Avoid:

Bradley Beal, WAS at MIA ($28) - Beal's minutes could be limited with the Wizards playing three straight games due to a rescheduled contest, making him a dicey fantasy proposition all weekend. He managed just 26.1 fantasy points in only 24 minutes Thursday, providing a reference point for what to expect from the recently injured shooting guard against the Heat. With Washington's top priority being keeping Beal healthy, don't expect him to garner enough minutes to live up to his $28 price in this tough stretch.

Others to Avoid: Khris Middleton ($31), Michael Carter-Williams ($29), Goran Dragic ($20)

FORWARD

Gorgui Dieng, MIN vs. NY ($22) - Dieng performed admirably playing alongside Karl-Anthony Towns with four consecutive double-doubles heading into the All-Star break, averaging 35.9 fantasy point per game in his last eight games. He should remain in the starting lineup with Kevin Garnett and Nikola Pekovic out with injuries, and even a slight decline from his recent production would make Dieng well worth his $22 price. Keep rolling with the big man until either a large drop-off in performance or an increase in price make you reconsider.

Andre Iguodala, GS at LAC ($19) -
There's a good chance the Warriors will opt to go small to counter the Clippers' Blake Griffin-less lineup, which would allow Iguodala to see extended minutes. The 2015 NBA Finals MVP showed just how effective he can be when called upon to play such a role in last year's playoffs, and Golden State won't be afraid to pull out all the stops to beat its fellow California rival. With a week off prior to his team's back-to-back set, Iguodala should be well-rested and ready to please Warriors fans and fantasy owners alike.

Forward to Avoid:

Markieff Morris, WAS at MIA ($17) - Morris is still getting acclimated to his new team, and the uncertainty surrounding his role should limit his DFS value. With Jared Dudley and Nene Hilario also vying for minutes at power forward, it's best to avoid the trio altogether until a greater sense of clarity can be gained. Avoiding a player facing the NBA's second-ranked defense gives owners yet another reason to steer away from Washington's newest acquisition.

Others to Avoid: Carmelo Anthony ($41), Kent Bazemore ($23), Otto Porter ($22)

CENTER

Robin Lopez, NYK at MIN ($17) - Lopez is worth a long look at just $17 after tying or exceeding that mark with his fantasy points for 10 conecutive games heading into the All-Star break. He should be able to use his veteran savvy against a young Timberwolves frontcourt to continue that streak Saturday, especially with interim head coach Kurt Rambis giving him more playing time than Derek Fisher did. Lopez is also the only option in his price available at center, making him the perfect choice for those who don't want to spend big bucks on the position.

Center to Avoid:

Greg Monroe, MIL at ATL ($30) - It's difficult to justify spending $30 on a center coming off the bench, even when he's as talented as Monroe. While he has maintained his previous minutes and fantasy value two games into the experiment, playing with a less talented supporting cast could soon start to take a toll. Facing one of the NBA's premier defenders at the position in Al Horford doesn't help Monroe's case, either.

Others to Avoid: DeAndre Jordan ($35), Marcin Gortat ($27)
