NHL Playoff Hockey Observations: And then there were eight

Just a few things that caught my eye:

  • The suitors are lining up. Mike Babcock is available. May the courtship begin. Just one question -- the Wings will clearly give him at least $3mil a year, so what will he get on the open market? $4mil? Next question: is he worth it?
  • Best and most valuable Bolt? Tyler Johnson and by a wide margin. Discuss.

  • Ben Bishop vs. Petr Mrazek. Neither had won a playoff series. Now Big Ben is relieved and Mrazek is a hero. I don't think I'd be able to simply switch names in that sentence if the Wings had won. Funny how expectations are ...
  • Niklas Kronwall doesn't think he did anything particularly wrong. Wow.
  • How badly is Steven Stamkos hurt? Something is clearly wrong. But maybe that won't matter against the low-scoring Habs ...
  • Double standard? Henrik Zetterberg didn't score a goal in the series, either. Same number of points (three). But people aren't speculating about an injury there ...
  • Do the Wings trade Jimmy Howard? How would he look in the Oil Patch? Or is that just replicating the same problems they already seen?
