NHL Playoffs -- On the brink

Just a few things that caught my eye:

  • Dmitri Jaskin 2.0. Sit for a bunch of games and then score in his first playoff game back ... for the second straight year.
  • Erik Karlsson will play Saturday despite two hairline cracks in his heel AND a lower-body injury. I guess Don Cherry can finally put his Swedish bias to bed.

  • Depth really does get it done. I'm talking about you, Oscar Lindberg.
  • 78. That's as in penalty minutes in the second half of the third period of the Rangers-Sens on Thursday. This series needed something to make it watchable. It seems like it finally does. #hatred.
  • Pekka Rinne is the best goalie still standing. Bar none.
  • So ... Edmonton likes the Honda Centre and Anaheim likes Rogers Place. So much for home ice advantage.
  • Ryan Getzlaf went beast mode Wednesday. By Friday night, that beast was the size of a chihuahua.
  • Today, the internet makes it almost impossible to pull a great disappearing act. But Corey Perry has managed to do it.
  • Craig Anderson will bounce back, but the Sens are done. So are the Caps.
  • Those Preds' blue is a thing of beauty. Seriously.
  • Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a neurodegenerative disorder that come with multiple knocks to the head. But the NHL's concussion protocols only clear players from their current concussion. They don't take multiple knocks to the head into consideration. There's something wrong here.
  • Sidney Crosby, I hope you make the right decision.
