Stanley Cup Final: Hawks Head Home Up

Just a few things that caught my eye:

  • Aren't nets supposed to come off their pegs? The Bolts are at home, so who will Jon Cooper blame for that immovable object?
  • Adventures in goaltending. Corey Crawford got lucky; Ben Bishop did not. Do you think brain farts occur naturally or are they the result of nerves?

  • Skaters have to go to the quiet room when they take a hit to the head, so why don't goalies? Bishop clearly exhibited symptoms -- holding his head, squinting his eyes and rotating his jaw -- after stepping in front of that truck named Victor Hedman. But he never left the game. #DoubleStandard
  • Sometimes being fast and talented doesn't pay. Just ask Jonathan Drouin who over-skated his back check, leaving Antoine Vermette wide open in the slot for the game-winning goal.
  • Patrick Sharp finally got the Ikea Monkey off his back. He hadn't scored a goal since Game 2 against Minny. His postseason trade value has been dropping with every game played -- too many GMs can see just how slow he is now. Someone will still bite, but the Hawks won't get the youthful return they'd like.
  • Now that it looks like the Bolts' (and NHL's) second-leading scorer is out, other guys will just have to step up and fill the void. Like Steven Stamkos. Seven games and counting. Seven games, Steven ...
  • Patrick Kane looks like the Steven Stamkos of the first-round against the Wings. Wait. Steven Stamkos looks like that guy, too. Lost. #OceanicFlight815.
  • I would take Johnny Oduya or Niklas Hjalmarsson on my team any day of the week. Like a rock.
  • Teuvo Teravainen has 10 points this postseason. He had nine during the regular season. Remember what I said about Teravainen over Drouin? You should because I sure am.
