I love fights at sporting events -- they create opportunities for me to use words like melee, donnybrook, fracas and scrum, that I have a hard time working into polite conversation.
In any event -- the results are in. The Commissioner hath spoken, and he hath brought forth a mighty vengeance on the guilty parties and smote them thusly:
-- Carmelo Anthony: 15 games
-- Nate Robinson, JR Smith: 10 games
-- Mardy Collins: 6 games
-- Jared Jeffries: 4 games
-- Jerome James, Nene: 1 game
Interestingly, Isiah Thomas didn't get any suspension... and I think that's a good thing. I don't want the NBA to become a league where a coach can't invoke the "no layup rule" when someone is obviously running up the score. I'd just like to see the hard foul executed a little more elegantly.
Where's Charles Oakley when you need him?
