The Point Guard
On an otherwise down day for the Celts (on the road and no beat writers providing daily updats because apparently hotels don't have internet access), I ran into a great article written by Eric Weiss over at the "team-sanctioned," (only because the owner is constantly on it) Celtics Blog. Weiss brings up a very good point that Boston is in vital need of a veteran point guard. We all love Delonte West's shot and grittiness, Sebastian Telfair's quickness and Rajon Rondo's defense, but notice not one of the above three are passers of the ball. The money will never work out unless it's expanded, and I know he's currently hurt, but Brevin Knight would be perfect. Boston is truly a stars and scrubs team, so the money would never work and Charlotte is $14 million UNDER the cap. No real free agents out there either.

Artest - Maggette Swap
According to the LA Times, the Clips are waiting by the phone for the Maloofs to call them back. This deal makes a ton of sense from the Clips standpoint, but if the Kings needed a Maggette-type player, why did they deal Peja for Artest less than 365 days ago? I can understand it may have been a money issue with Peja, but Artest and Maggette have player options in the 2008-09 seasons, giving the real possibility that both teams will be looking for a SG and SF anyway.

Clippers looking to make a move...
The Clippers missed out on Iverson and it appears that they are determined to make a move to add an impact player to their lineup. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the Clippers are in discussions with Sacramento involving a trade for Ron Artest.
With the struggles that the Clippers have undergone thus far in the season, the move for Artest would be huge. They would be able to finally unload Corey Maggette, which is something that they appear determined to do, and they would add an impact player in his place. Artest would not only be able to fill the scoring void left by Maggette but he excels on defense, which Maggette is not known for. The defensive portion of Artest's game would suit Mike Dunleavy's style perfectly.
This would be a good move for both squads and hopefully it will get done soon.
