Is Parcells a Gimme for the Hall of Fame?
| I went into this article thinking, yeah, of course he is. But now I'm leaning the other way. Some strong arguments are made, I think. For one, Parcells was twice rejected for the Hall in 2001 and 2002. What's changed since then? A mediocre stint with the Cowboys? OK, if he's not necessarily a gimme, does he still deserve enshrinement? I think so, but again, there are strong counterpoints: two Super Bowl wins is not an automatic ticket; the Bill Belichick factor; constant job-jumping gave him an opportunity long-tenured coaches didn't have to turn around four franchises.
"Was Bill Parcells innovative?" asked one voter. "Was he creative? No, not really. Did he change the game? No. His teams were good, and he was successful, but that describes a lot of coaches."

Sensitivity is not a Trait of Chicago Fans
Now, the whole win-one-for-the-people-of-New-Orleans thing was wearing on me too, but this Bears sign takes that sentiment a little too far. That said, dare you not to smirk. And remember, I'm just the messenger.

On the Road Again
Here's an interesting Arizona Republic article about NFL relocation. Six teams have moved a total of seven times since 1982. If the 49ers, Chargers and Saints relocate, as rumors suggest, then almost 30 percent of the current NFL will have moved since 1982.

Parcells Out
Bill Parcells called it quits Monday morning. Gotta wonder how much the T.O. factor weighed on his decision. Yeah, Parcells is one of two coaches who cashes Social Security checks every month, but it's not like the game has even come close to passing him by (Joe Gibbs on the other hand ... ). Word around the Valley Ranch campfire was Jerry Jones gave Parcells a big chunk of cash this year to put up with T.O. and not bugger out. Apparently, it wasn't worth it. So, how long until Parcells is wearing Silver and Black? Or would he not take that job? If I'm the Bill Bidwell, I've got the lawyers looking for out-clauses in Ken Whisenhunt's week-old contract.

Aikman and Buck are Killing Me
Are these guys watching the same game as me? They're acting like the Bears are dominating - it's 6-0 after the Saints turned it over twice and also lost 20 yards on another fumble. The Bears offense has done nothing, the Saints have already made a big play and also got a terrible offensive pass interference call... And how about them criticizing Lovie Smith for going on 4th and 1 at the three yard line, saying the in a title game you need to get the three points? Why? Why is three points in a title game different than three points in any other game? No explanation - just those two morons acting like it's a given. Do they break down the likelihood of getting the first down and what it does for the offense to break into the end zone? Of course not.
