February 12, 2012
Oliver (concussion) announced Saturday following Penn State's win over Nebraska that he will end his basketball career due to lingering symptoms associated with concussions, SB Nation Pittsburgh's Adam Bittner reports.
ANALYSIS
Oliver, who lost all of the 2009-2010 season while suffering from chronic headaches, missed four games beginning Jan. 19 with concussion symptoms. He returned to action and played in the Nittany Lions' losses at Iowa on Feb. 4 and at Michigan State on Wednesday, but decided thereafter to stop playing out of concern for his health. Oliver ends his final college season averaging 6.8 points (on 36.7 percent shooting), 3.3 rebounds, and 1.7 three-pointers in 24.0 minutes.
