Carter will not play against Wake Forest on Saturday as he's dealing with strep throat, Kevin Brockway of Gators.com reports.

Carter was recently sidelined for two games with a foot sprain but returned to the lineup against Texas Southern on Dec. 13. His next opportunity to get back on the court will be against Florida State on Tuesday.

Carter (foot) had six points (2-3 FG, 2-3 3PT), two rebounds and a steal over 14 minutes in Friday's victory over Texas Southern.

Carter returned to the floor following a two-game absence due to a foot sprain, and logged limited action off the bench in the contest. The junior guard will gradually work his way back to a full workload, as he was on a minutes restriction in this contest, per the Gainesville Sun.

Carter (foot) returned to practice Wednesday, and is expected to play Friday against Texas Southern, Kevin Brockway of the Gainesville Sun reports.

Carter has been dealing with a foot sprain that has kept him out of action since a Nov. 28 contest against North Carolina. Though he returned to practice, coach Billy Donovan suggests that he isn't moving as well as he could be, and may see limited action Friday. Carter's return to the floor would be a step in the right direction, but the uncertainty surrounding his use makes him a bit of a risky play in daily formats. The junior guard should eventually see significant minutes in the Gators' offense, but Donovan will likely take a conservative approach in his use in an effort to conserve him for SEC play.

Carter will not play Friday against Kansas, Kevin Brockway of the Gainesville Sun reports.

Carter only played 13 minutes in the Gators' last game against North Carolina and heavily struggled, missing all four of his shots. Florida now enters the easiest three-game stretch of their schedule, home games against Yale, Texas Southern, and Jacksonville. It's very likely Billy Donovan rest Carter over that stretch to make sure he's ready for SEC play.

Carter (foot) will be available to play Wednesday against Georgetown, Mark Long of the Associated Press reports.

It looks like Carter's injury was just a sprain, as he could return earlier than expected against the Hoyas. He almost definitely won't start or play his usual 27.5 minutes per game, but the Gators need all the help they can get.

Carter will undergo an MRI on Saturday to determine the severity of the foot injury he suffered during Thursday's practice, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The Gators are currently uncertain whether Carter suffered a sprain, or if there is a Lisfranc injury in play. If the MRI reveals just a foot sprain, the junior guard would miss roughly 8-10 days. However, if a Lisfranc injury shows up, his absence would project to be much longer. Carter had started each of the Gators' first two contests before missing Friday's tilt against UL-Monroe, and figured to be a major part of coach Billy Donovan's offensive game plan in 2014-15. With fellow guard Dorian Finney-Smith also out indefinitely with a hand fracture, the Florida backcourt is looking a bit thin, with Kasey Hill, Michael Frazier and Chris Chiozza all representing candidates to take on a heavier workload.

Carter scored a team-high 21 points in last Thursday's exhibition game against Barry University, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Carter was limited to just seven games last season after suffering a broken leg in February of 2013, but the junior guard finally appears ready to be fully deployed in coach Billy Donovan's offense. Donovan would still like to see Carter improve on the defensive end, but after hitting five three-pointers in the exhibition, the 6-foot-2 transfer from Rutgers showed impressive scoring ability.

Carter (right leg) is now fully participating in practice, according to Chris Harry of Gator Zone.com

Carter broke his fibula playing for Rutgers in February of 2013, and saw limited action in seven games for the Gators last season after transferring.
