+ Add To Watchlist

Coleman had 14 points, seven rebounds, an assist, two blocks and four steals Sunday against Texas Southern.

Coleman did all of his damage in 20 minutes. The limited playing time is seemingly the only thing keeping him from being a steady fantasy contributor. He scored 13 points in the outing prior to this in only 12 minutes. There will be plenty of risk, but Coleman could be worth a flier Wednesday night against Pittsburgh.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coleman had three rebounds and an assist in five minutes of action Wednesday against Wisconsin.

The Orange were out-rebounded 51-25 in the contest with their big man sitting. Coleman expressed some frustration post game with regards to a lack of opportunity, which has been a season long trend as he recovers from knee surgery. It's clear the Orange need to let him play a bit more, but until he does, Coleman can't be trusted in any lineup.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coleman had four points and four rebounds Tuesday against St. Bonaventure.

Coleman played 14 minutes after playing 13 in the season-opener. Coleman has proclaimed his health, but it appears the Orange are easing their big man back into action. Until he can stay on the court for 20 minutes or more nightly, he's not going to be a trusted fantasy center.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coleman (knee) had seven points (2-8 FG, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds and a block in Sunday's 96-54 exhibition victory over Florida Southern.

Coleman has had quite the rocky road to get to this point, as various lower body injuries have forced the top-10 recruit to miss much of the 2013-14 season and all of 2014-15. Coleman was honored with 2012 New York Mr. Basketball honors, but has yet to surpass an average of 5.0 points or rebounds per game over a limited sample size with his hometown team. The 6-foot-9 senior will look to turn the corner in the upcoming season, and could be a steady source of points and boards if he keeps himself healthy.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coleman's recovery and improvement gives head coach Jim Boeheim hope for the 2015-16 season, Syracuse.com reports.

Coleman has had a plethora of knee problems, and hasn't played since January 2014, but within the last month, Boeheim has observed leaps and bounds of improvement. Coleman can now move diagonally and is gaining his former explosiveness back. He's still out, but the 6-foot-9 big man's injury status is something to watch, as he could take on a significant role as a power forward and center for the Orange.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coleman (knee) indicated that he had no pain after a long rehab process, Syracuse.com reports. The 6-9 center has not played since undergoing surgery in January, 2014.

Coleman was a reserve in his first two seasons with the Orange. The Syracuse legacy player (Derrick's son) averaged 4.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in 13.0 minutes in 13 games in 2013-14. He could be a surprise producer for the Orange in the center of the 2-3 zone.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coleman (knee) will redshirt this season, Syracuse.com's Donna Ditota reports.

Soreness and stiffness in his knee will sideline Coleman for a long enough stretch that it made more sense to preserve a year of eligibility and have him come back fresh next season. He had knee surgery this time last year, and his recovery has not been smooth. Fantasy owners can ignore the junior center/forward for the rest of this season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Coleman (knee) appears likely to redshirt for the 2014-15 season, Sports Illustrated reports.

Coleman will still be given a few more weeks to see if his lingering knee issues take a turn for the better, but a medical redshirt seems to be the most plausible scenario at this point. The junior center hasn't seen game action for nearly one calendar year, and although he's been able to participate in some drills during practice, it wouldn't be surprising to see coach Jim Boeheim to take a conservative approach. In Coleman's absence, look for Michael Gbinije and Rakeem Christmas to continue to see heavy minutes.
