Johnson missed last Monday's game due to migraines, but has also been dealing with a nagging shoulder injury all season. He continues to practice with the team, however, so a return to the court could be right around the corner. Once ready, Johnson will likely serve as the backup point guard behind senior Ricky Tarrant Jr. -- a role that has been occupied by Jeremiah Martin in the meantime. Johnson's next opportunity to take the court will be Tuesday against Louisiana Tech.

Johnson is suffering from a shoulder ailment that may require season-ending surgery, Gary Parrish of CBS Sports reports.

Johnson has yet to practice with the team while he mulls over the possibility of surgery. He apparently has two options, according to head coach Josh Pastner: play through the pain, or submit to surgery that will end his 2015-16 season. Johnson averaged 6.7 points and 2.7 assists a season ago, but was expected to see a large uptick in his 24 minute per game average this year. If the 6-4 guard does elect surgery, look for fellow backcourt members Jake McDowell or D'Marnier Cunningham to see extra run in the upcoming season.
