Johnson has been cleared to play at Memphis this season after transferring from Vanderbilt, Gary Parrish of CBS reports.

Johnson, who was suspended all of last season, announced his intent to transfer in August and committed to Memphis shortly after. In 2012-13. he averaged 13.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 40.8 percent from the field. The 6-4 Johnson will be an immediate contributor for the Tigers and will push for a starting spot.

Johnson has committed to playing for Memphis Wednesday after leaving Vanderbilt earlier this offseason, CBS Sports reports.

Johnson will definitely be a big boost to the young Tigers for the upcoming year. He averaged 13.5 points, 3.6 assists, and just 2.8 turnovers in 2012-13 before sitting out last year in what was a tumultuous period for the sophomore at Vandy. He will bring a great scoring option to the Tigers, a team who lost several key players to the NBA draft earlier this year. The Tigers have been struggling in summer ball to possess the ball and prevent turnovers, so Johnson will provide a great ball handling option and could even start for the Tigers early on in the year.
