Smart has declared for the NBA Draft, following a tumultuous sophomore season at Oklahoma State, ESPN reports.

This comes as no surprise, as Smart is still expected to be a lottery pick despite a disappointing season in terms of team success in his second year with the Cowboys. He averaged 17.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists this season, but he displayed some questionable decision-making tendencies on the court. The point guard position is fairly deep at the NBA level, but Smart still figures to get a chance to be a starter right away, assuming he gets selected by a team that has a need there.

Smart scored 21 points 20 of which came in the second half against the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday in a 72-65 upset win in Stillwater.

Smart shook off an utterly dismal first half to provide his team with the boost down the stretch it needed to grab another resume-building win. His first field goal came with 17:46 to play in the contest, which seemed to help the future lottery pick break through whatever impeded him in the first half of action. The sophomore made 5-of-7 field goals and 8-of-12 free throws in the second half and challenged 7-foot Joel Embiid on a huge layup in the final minute of the game to seal the win.

Smart returned from a three game suspension Saturday, scoring 16 points (5-10 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 6-7 FT), to go along with ten assists, six steals, three rebounds, and two blocks in a win over Texas Tech.

Smart's return was welcomed Saturday as Oklahoma State was in the midst of a seven game losing streak before beating Texas Tech. Smart filled the box score on Saturday, and will continue to play as one of the best guards in college basketball.

Smart has been suspended for three games following Saturday night's incident with a Texas Tech fan, ESPN reports.

Smart pushed an opposing fan after allegedly having a racial slur directed at him toward the end of Saturday's loss at Texas Tech. The 19-year-old was assessed a technical foul for his reaction and will now spend the Cowboys' next three games on the pine. Oklahoma State's current leader in points, assists, and steals, Smart will be sidelined for games against Texas, in-state rivals Oklahoma, and Baylor, before he is able to return February 22nd, coincidentally versus Texas Tech.

Smart pushed a Texas Tech fan toward the end of Saturday's 65-61 loss to the Red Raiders on Saturday, reports.

It was an unfortunate scene in Lubbock, as Smart bounced off the court and confronted the fan, ultimately pushing him and getting a technical foul but was not ejected from the game. While the fan may or may not have said something derogatory toward the 19-year-old, Smart will likely be facing suspension from the NCAA. His loss would obviously be huge for Oklahoma State, as Smart is leading the team in scoring (17.5 PPG), assists (4.3 APG) and steals (2.3 SPG).

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Smart had one of his worst performances so far this season by scoring only four points (1-7 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT) with five rebounds and four assists in 25 minutes Saturday against West Virginia.

With the exception of this game, Smart's playing time has increased since his team has entered Big 12 play, probably due to closer, more important games. expect Smart to get past this poor game, and continue to build on what is already a very impressive season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Smart came up one assist short of a triple-double in Saturday's 80-78 loss to Kansas, finishing with 16 points (3-14 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 10-10 FT), 10 rebounds, nine assists, and four steals

Smart has done an excellent job of getting to the line this season, and Saturday's poor shooting performance was a bit of an anomaly against an extremely talented Kansas team. Even after the 3-for-14 effort, Smart is still shooting a solid 44.7 percent from the field this season, though he's at just 32.2 percent from beyond the arc.

Smart dominated Memphis with 39 points, including five 3-pointers, in the Tuesday win. He added four rebounds, four assists, and five steals.

Memphis was touted as having one of the best and deepest backcourts in the country, but Smart demolished them. He took some unwise 3-pointers as a kind of heat check, but was simply too big and too skilled for the Tiger guards. The 6-4 sophomore is averaging an even 20.0 points through four games.
