Smart scored 21 points – 20 of which came in the second half – against the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday in a 72-65 upset win in Stillwater.
Smart shook off an utterly dismal first half to provide his team with the boost down the stretch it needed to grab another resume-building win. His first field goal came with 17:46 to play in the contest, which seemed to help the future lottery pick break through whatever impeded him in the first half of action. The sophomore made 5-of-7 field goals and 8-of-12 free throws in the second half and challenged 7-foot Joel Embiid on a huge layup in the final minute of the game to seal the win.
