Obekpa will return to St. John's next season after originally intending to transfer, reports.

Obekpa has been granted a release by St. John's ahead of a potential transfer, ESPN reports.

Obekpa led the nation by averaging four blocked shots as a freshman last season and followed that up with 2.9 swats per game this year, already making him St. John's all-time leader in the category. However, with him leaving the Red Storm program, St. John's will have yet another vacancy to fill across its front-line ahead of next season.
