Matthews led the Rams with 17 points Wednesday against St. Joseph's, adding five assists, four rebounds and two steals.

Coming off of a career-high 32 points, Matthews again paced the offense. Xavier Munford had just nine points, and it's beginning to feel as though the passing of the torch from senior to freshman has already happened.

Matthews had a career-high 32 points Saturday against Duquesne, adding four rebounds and three assists.

Matthews nailed 6-of-8 3-point attempts, and has scored at least 22 points in three straight. Just a freshman, his scoring should only rise next season when Xavier Munford departs.

Matthews had his first double-double of the season on Saturday against Dayton, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the upset win.

Matthews added four steals for the second time in three outings. He had a nice scoring streak in early January, but had just 31 points in his last four games prior to this outing. It's possible this will be the start of another hot streak for Matthews.

It was an impressive all-around evening from the freshman. Matthews has been streaky, having a string of four straight games in single-digits in late November, but he's finding his game of late, averaging 14.5 points in his last four outings.
