Adel (concussion) has been cleared to play Wednesday, though coach Rick Pitino will bring him off the bench, The Louisville Courier-Times reports.

Adel is averaging nearly 28 minutes per contest this season after starting each of the team's first 16 games. A move to a reserve role might cost him some minutes in the short term, but look for the 6-7 sophomore to return to his old role in short order, possibly in time for Saturday's showdown with Duke. More importantly, however, is that Pitino disclosed that Adel never did suffer a concussion. His two days of missed practice time this week are what is causing him to be left out of the starting five.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Adel (concussion) is expected to be available Wednesday against Duke, The Louisville Courier-Journal reports. "He'll be ready to go," coach Rick Pitino stated.

Adel suffered what looked to be a scary injury Saturday against Georgia Tech, when it appeared he was kneed in the head while attempting to corral a loose ball. It turns out the injury may not be as serious as originally anticipated, however. Although the sophomore forward is expected to sit out Monday's practice, Adel aims to rejoin team workouts Tuesday and be ready to go by Wednesday's important ACC matchup. If Adel is limited in any way, which isn't a guarantee, look for V.J. King to see a few extra minutes.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

A Louisville spokesman confirmed that Adel suffered a concussion during Saturday's 65-50 win over Georgia Tech, Jeff Greer of the Louisville Courier-Journal reports.

Adel played only 12 minutes before departing with the head injury, but on a positive note, team trainers determined that he was well enough to fly back to Louisville with the team. The sophomore forward will be evaluated over the next few days before his status is determined for Wednesday's game against Pittsburgh.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Adel had six points, three rebounds and a block Saturday at Georgia Tech before departing after 12 minutes due to an apparent head injury.

Adel was injured after his shot was blocked by Yellow Jackets' center Ben Lammers, and was reportedly evaluated for a concussion. It's uncertain if he actually sustained one, or if his absence the rest of the game was precautionary only. His status for Wednesday against Pittsburgh is murky, but there isn't a long-term concern here.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Adel had 18 points, six rebounds and two assists Wednesday against Kentucky.

Adel is finding his scoring touch, having hit for at least 11 points in four of his last five outings after doing so just three times in the first seven games of the year. Adel has a well-rounded game that hasn't fully manifested itself thus far, so his scoring uptick has been a welcomed surprise.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Adel accumulated 15 points (7-16 FG, 1-5 3Pt), three rebounds, and one steal during Saturday's victory over Grand Canyon.

It's been a rough first eight games for the 6-7 sophomore, as he's supplying 9.8 points on only 33.8 percent shooting, 3.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.3 steals across 28.1 minutes per game. Until he starts putting together some better outings, he can probably be avoided in most fantasy formats.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Head coach Rick Pitino praised Adel's hard work and sharpness in the offseason, Jeff Greer of the Courier-Journal reports.

Pitino said Adel is primed for a huge sophomore season. During Adel's freshman season, he was hampered by a knee strain, but has been healthy in the offseason since. Pitino said he's been much quicker and has improved his jumpshot by adding more arc consistently. The 6-foot-7 guard will likely start for Louisville next season. He averaged 4.0 points and 2.1 rebounds in 12 minutes per game as a freshman.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Adel had three points, one rebound and one assist Saturday at Virginia.

Deng's freshman season wrapped up rather anonymously, having scored 12 total points over his final three games. Deng flashed some potential throughout his injury laden first season, and barring an impact transfer or late-season commitment, he should see his role increase substantially next year, making him a nice preseason sleeper in ACC circles.
