Oregon State: Brandin Cooks Headed For NFL
January 2, 2014
Cooks has declared for the 2014 NFL Draft, CBSSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cooks joined fellow highly-touted receiving prospects Mike Evans and Allen Robinson in declaring for the draft Thursday. The 5-foot-10, 186-pound Cooks doesn't have the size of Evans or Robinson, but he's extremely athletic and figures to be one of the top 10 receivers off the board come May. Cooks led the nation in receiving yards during the regular season with 1,670, and finished the year with a whopping 18 total touchdowns.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2013
2012
Cooks was a strong fantasy option in 2012, and he figures to take the leap into elite territory as a junior in 2013. Top Oregon State wideout Markus Wheaton graduated in the offseason, leaving the Beavers charged with the task of replacing 91 catches, 1,244 yards and 11 touchdowns. With 67 catches of his own for 1,151 yards and five touchdowns in 2012, Cooks is obviously ready to take on that task. No other Oregon State receiver made it to the 20-catch mark in 2012, so Cooks could be in position to push for 100 catches this year. Although Oregon State has a quarterback controversy between Sean Mannion and Cody Vaz, it should mean little to Cooks, who produced regardless of which played last year.
Cooks is poised to become one of the better fantasy options among Pac-12 wideouts in 2012, as he was solid in 2011 and is in an offense that will likely improve from last year. Cooks finished his 2011 freshman year with 31 catches for 391 yards and three touchdowns, and between the improvement of quarterback Sean Mannion and departure of receiver James Rodgers, he will almost certainly improve a good amount, perhaps to the point that he's a fantasy factor outside of Pac-12-only leagues.
